how high and how low have you been?

Highest has been 'hi' which is over 27 (my meter doesn't measure over 27) and lowest has been 1.9. Had no warning before I hit 1.9 but was able to manage it before it got out of hand. Struggling to get normality since started injecting in October last year. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Diabetic and Depression

Sounds like we've got a bit of a theme here relating to bipolar and pumps. In this situation, does someone undertake to pursue the issue on behalf of the forum? Debs

No such thing as a diabetic diet

Hi Johnboy It is pretty confusing but I can testify that, following the experiential advice given here, my bg levels have dropped within a few weeks from a hospital admitting 'hi' (the meter only goes up to 27) to an average of 10. As I'm only just learning to carb count, it's a big improvement...

    Diabetic and Depression

PS - I would like to get in contact with any bipolar bears for some peer support and chats about managing the two conditions. I worry about managing my diabetes when I'm 'unwell'. :shh:

    Diabetic and Depression

Hi All I have just started on insulin and have bipolar/manic depression. I'm finding it really hard to come to terms with things together with planning to go back to work after being in hospital with severe hyperglycaemia and ketoacidosis. Whilst I have always been treatment compliant, I don't...

    what I wish some

I feel like I'm going through the whole newbie thing again having just been moved from oral meds to basal/bolus dosing with insulin. It's not that I didn't take being a diabetic seriously 9 years ago, it's just, having bipolar (manic depression) I'm already on a cocktail of meds and a couple...

    Returning to work

I'm in a similar situation having been managed as a Type 2 and ending up in hospital after developing ketoacidosis. I am starting bolus dosing on Thursday but my sick note runs out on Wednesday. My GP will give me time if I need it but I'm wondering if I'm just delaying the inevitable (although...

    BYETTA

I feel like I'm flying solo. When admitted, I was told I was adult onset type 1. Now I'm on Byetta which isn't for type 1s. I'm seeing the consultant tomorrow and don't know what to say. The nurses comment that my sugars are ok but they're in the early teens before meals and late teens for...

    BYETTA

Started on Byetta this morning from hospital after being admitted with ketoacidosis in the early hours of Friday morning. Doc now thinks I'm an 'adult onset type 1' whatever that is. They've taken me off the Metfartin while I'm still acedotic but are talking about using the Byetta in conjunction...

So it all went pear shaped

Thanks Jane and Mary. I haven't really posted on the board, having been a bit of a 'lurker'. I have put my profile on and answered the 'let's get to know each other' on the welcome board now. I think I may well find myself posting more and lurking less. See you soon Debs x

So it all went pear shaped

I was diagnosed as a Type 2 nearly 10 years ago at the tender age of 34. I wasn't overweight but diet controlled quickly slipped to maxing out on Metformin, then Glimipiride and then Sitagliptin without ever feeling that I had any element of control of my ever increasing bms. Anyway, I've been...
