I regularly have a banana and apple smoothie for my lunch it also has oat milk in it with a small amount of honey. The carbs vary depending on the weight of both banana and apple but will be approximately 50 to 55g of carbs. my blood sugars are averaging at 5.8 before meals and 6.8 after meals...
I have heard if we eat protein and no carbohydrate, the body will convert the protein into carbohydrate. This may or may not be the reason for the blood glucose you had of 9.7 or 9.8.
