    Novo Rapid insulin

It depends on what you eat and how many carbs, like In Response wrote. But your diabetes team should tell you how many units to use before what meal. You should be able to contact them and get a clear answer before you start using insulin.

Switching from Tresiba Flexpen to Novopen

I have been using Tresiba Flexpen for years. A few months ago I asked the DN if it was possible to switch to a Novopen and ampuls as I like the memory function on the Novopen. I have been using the Novopen for years with NovoRapid. I was very nicely stable with my BG. Now all of a sudden I'm...

Tresiba possibly out of basic insurance by 2023

I was put on Levemir, when first had to switch to insulin. Once a day. And, as I know now, on much too high a dosis. I was very unstable to the point where the DN wanted me to be treated by and endo and DN in the hospital. At my first appointment, now 7 years ago, I was put on Tresiba and it has...

Tresiba possibly out of basic insurance by 2023

I have been using Tresiba for years. Now the Dutch Health Minister has warned that, from 2023, users might have to pay up to € 250 per year themselves if they want to continue using Tresiba. This on top of basic health insurance premium of € 130 (or more next year) per month and mandatory...

    Freestyle libre 2

In The Netherlands the Libre 3 is only available for Type 1 and then only under strict conditions. The Libre 1 and now the 2 is only prescribed and checked by an endo and diabetic nurse. If you're on tablets, you are checked by the GP diabetic nurse.

apps for mobile phone blood sugars

I use Smartlog as well, linking my CareSense Premier through bluetooth. It shows the daily log as well as averages global, pre-mail, post-meal. My consultant likes it.

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately it seems that the info is only available to U.S. citizens.

Sientists come up with yet another diet to save the world.

It was a kid's book, compared to real life. Alexa, Google et al are the ones we can still choose not to buy. All the camera's in the street, the mics in supermarkets, your steps and route being tracked via your mobile. It's not a warning story, it's reality. Just by shopping in your local, HQ of...

    Tackling hypos

I'm type 2 on a fixed insulin regime. I do have regular hypo's. I have a 150 ml can of cola everywhere with me. When having a hypo, low 3's (haven't had the 2 yet), my swallowing problems become more severe. Dextro or jelly babies wouldn't work for me, as I would risk chocking on them. The cola...

    Can anyone help?

@Shiny_Blue03 I can see your predicament. If your husband doesn't want to change what he eats, it won't help your relationship if you try to "force" him into it by cooking the lowcarb meals. If you have to fight over every cooked meal and have to live with a person who doesn't like the new...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

7.0 @08.00 am. Very stressful morning. Good for my bs. Hovering around 5 all day. That is low for me. But last week couldn't get below 10. Not good for my Hb1Ac:( @Allypally Happy (belated) birthday. May you have a good new year in your life.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

3.9 waking after a heavy dream. Instead of 150ml of cola (my normal approved cure for a hypo) I had my breakfast sandwich cheese. Within an hour 12.3:( Cola is a lot gentler.

Stomach bug / IBS and suddenly don’t need much insulin

Hope you are feeling better, today. IBS is a ******. I had a handful of unsalted assorted nuts yesterday. My gut doesn't like nuts. Hadn't eaten them in years as I don't really like nuts. But wanted to give it a try as everybody tells you to eat nuts as part of your diet. :bored:

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

11.8 after weeks of around 6, 7 at the most. For me that is very low. But 11.8 is very high. Even for me. Down to a bad night, maybe. Nothing special to eat or drink yesterday or day before.

    Seasons greetings

Wow...and to think I considered Holland to be an expensive country to be sick in. We pay around 123 euro's per month in healthcare premium and 385 euro's annual excess as well as less and less meds covered by your health insurance. GP visits are insured as well as any service the GP practice...
