    Possible LADA or MODY

It really is lol and that's great! I hope it stays that way!

    Possible LADA or MODY

Hmm it is something that should be considered, you definitely seem to be more on the LADA side in terms of your diabetes. I just...have no idea what's going on with mine haha.

    Possible LADA or MODY

Oh I should've added that, yes the right side is the normal ranges! I'm just wondering since that was well over a year ago, if the results would've changed if I had it done again. I've seen on the forums that having a normal range can still be T1 or T2 since it's meant to show how much insulin...

    Possible LADA or MODY

Since i saw it mentioned earlier, i managed to dig up my old results from the private GAD and c peptide test. This test was done when I first got diagnosed in September/October 2017 when my hba1c was only 50. The first row is the c peptide test and the second is the GAD test. (The scribbled out...

    Possible LADA or MODY

At least your consultant is being considerate and also taking the approiate tests to do for you! I'll also be getting tested for MODY next week, so we'll both probably find out in a few months. The process for testing for MODY is they send the blood sample to a specialist place in Exeter...

    Possible LADA or MODY

Looks like we're both in very similar situations then! It came as a shock for me too as my mum is a type 1 who got it at 10, but was told in the 80s that her diabetes wasn't genetic, she's now wondering if that was wrong. Even though diabetes is a pain, it's better to get it treated rather than...

    Possible LADA or MODY

Oh dear that doesn't sound good especially with how high that hba1c is! I hope you get answers soon. My consultant was considering putting me on insulin, but considering I am already overweight (which is partially due to other health issues I'm having), I'm guessing he wanted to try something...

    Possible LADA or MODY

Hi all another update as I've been to see the consultant earlier today. If I am honest, it was a very confusing experience. He didn't tell me everything very clearly. But I've been put on new medicine to try for a month (Forxiga) alongside my other ones which now looking at the side effects, I'm...

    Possible LADA or MODY

I'm not the one to ask when it comes to insulin amounts, as I only have the basic knowledge of it currently due to my mother being a T1 diabetic, but your blood sugar levels don't seem very high for fasting, especially if you're on insulin? Mine are usually about 8 mmols fasting and I'm only on...

    Possible LADA or MODY

Oh wow that's so strange but also very interesting to hear! I finally have an appointment with my consultant in Feburary, so we will be discussing all the possible types of MODY or LADA, so hopefully I'll find out in a few months whether I am MODY or not

    Possible LADA or MODY

Update for everyone: I haven't seen the consultant yet but saw my general diabetic nurse. I'm being kept on glicizide and she told me herself about how it will probably kill off the insulin producing beta cells, as she is suspecting it is type 1.5 or mody. But they need to see how i react to it...

    Possible LADA or MODY

That sounds very similar to my situation, but i'm glad you managed to find out eventually! Hopefully the same will happen with me soon, it can be very frustrating

    Possible LADA or MODY

I see, that makes sense! I haven't got an appointment yet for the consultant, but when i do, i'll make sure to push for MODY testing. Depending on the test results, we'll go from there! Thank you

MODY, after 20 years of Type 1

You most certainly don't sound like a typical type one then! If you're in the UK and the consultant, or Endo you're seeing has a strong feeling you have MODY, you should get tested for free. It's not something patients can really do themselves I think. I hope the Endo helps you out with this as...

    Possible LADA or MODY

It seems like some doctors like to look down on patients. I once had a doctor tell me off for using a medical term! There's nothing wrong with patients knowing more about themselves and their possible condition than the doctors, since they are the ones going through it after all

    Possible LADA or MODY

Hopefully you'll be taken seriously from now on. The diabetic specialist nurses seem to be much better than the ones at the doctors, as my first meeting with a DSN, she finally confirmed that i didn't have regular type 1 or type 2. It's a shame really this happens to so many diabetic patients

    Possible LADA or MODY

When i originally had my tests done, it was with a private consultant who if i'm honest, didn't seem to care. He just brushed me aside as having type 2 which came from either PCOS (which i knew i didn't have and the tests/ultrasounds proved it) or Cushing's disease, which again was proved...

MODY, after 20 years of Type 1

Hello I'm also new to the forum!! I'm currently dealing with a similar issue (you may have seen my post about it) but I can answer some of your questions about MODY. MODY is a rare genetic form of diabetes, where a gene is mutitated in your DNA (there are multiple forms of the MODY gene, some...

    Possible LADA or MODY

I believe that certain tests can be done to find out on the NHS. MODY is a rare genetic form of diabetes, which usually gets diagnosed before 25 and there is a strong family history of diabetes, usually in 3 or more generations. This can only be found out through a special blood test where the...
