Hi I’m not really sure about any side affects as I can’t quite remember with it being a while back, I don’t think so. 6.2 fasting today, for the keeping to thread but lol

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

Hi hope you’re doing ok. It was a bit strange when I was diagnosed with GD, it was really late in pregnancy about 30 or 32 weeks, can’t quite remember, when a routine urine dip test showed a lot of glucose, so they monitored me straight away with blood sugars etc. I immediately stopped the...

Thank you, yes the 6.1 and 6.7 were straight after I got out of bed, about 7.30am. But thanks for the advice, I will test before breakfast too if there’s a bit of a delay with eating. Yes it’s interesting the difference in the numbers at 1 and 2 hours after my crunchy nut cereal. Best wishes to...

Thanks yes I will test when I feel like that, will take the monitor to work with me just in case. I seem to remember when I felt like that during pregnancy, then again after birth, tested and the readings were in the 4’s. But will definitely test again to see.

Ah that’s good that they do a GTT after 6 weeks. If they do go back to normal, you might be recommended to do a hba1c test every year just to check. Best of luck to you and the baby, Leigh

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

From what I’ve recently read, a level of 5.5 - 7 fasting is prediabetes. I think I am in that category now after having gestational diabetes but I may have been before then and not realised. So 5.6 would put you in that range if that is still the levels. After giving birth, I have just been...

    pre-diabetes, fasting blood sugars.

Hi hope you’re ok. I gave birth over two years ago, but I’ve only recently joined this forum, my fasting levels seemed to be a bit lower during pregnancy than they are now but they spiked quite high after I would have breakfast, think I was eating the wrong things. My fasting sugars now are a...

Morning thank you all for your advice and motivation! Great ideas for breakfast, I’m used to eating cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for dinner and a main meal for my tea, so I will try different things and switch it around. This morning it’s 6.7 before breakfast, haven’t had it yet.

I test again tomorrow, breakfast will probably not be very healthy as I haven’t been shopping yet, although I have porridge in so that might be slightly better than the usual cereals. My level is 7.1 tonight, will test as soon as I get up tomorrow, thanks all, Leigh.

I have also learned over the years that I can’t skip breakfast or other meals as ended up having a bad migraine, so I have breakfast every day.

I can wait til about 11 or 11.30 sometimes but by then usually have whatever is in reach as I’m too hungry. The odd times I haven’t eaten til 12.30 I get the shakes, headache and feeling faint.

I’ve just got some test strips and tested yesterday but not today, will start again tomorrow I think. My fasting was 6.1, had crunchy nut at 1 hour 11.5, but came down to 6.9 at 2 hours. When I had GD it always went high after breakfast. I think I’m just frustrated with myself lol as I should...

Thank you everyone has been so helpful, I’m convinced that my current diet isn’t helping me lose weight and yes definitely a high risk into getting full blown diabetes. I haven’t had chance to get a proper shop yet for all the low carb things (will go shopping tomorrow when I have some money...

Thank you that’s what I’m going to try gradually going low carb as currently I eat mostly bread, pasta, cereals throughout the day, and had been told bananas are a good snack so I have one every day! I’m about 4 stone overweight been going up each year so really need to lose weight. I am taking...
