    Sweeteners

I also use sweeteners and have done since being diagnosed nearly 30 years ago but have recently been advised that their going on the carcinogenic list? I’m trying to wean myself off them and just have a couple of sugars in a coffee when I’m low as a treat!

Type 1 Advice when forgotten to reconnect pump

Ok firstly I’d love to hear that others are as forgetful as me and have wondered around all morning wondering why they feel like rubbish but not realising there’s no tug of the Medtronic line tethering you! Secondly unbelievably it’s the first time I’ve done this in nearly 10 years of wearing a...

    DVLA!!

I do have my licence now, yes! It took them a good 9/10 months though! I can’t say whether speaking to them sped it up any or not to be honest but it was just a reassurance for me that I was still safe to drive!

Completed my forms august 21 as my licence was due to expire in September 21- waited and waited then started ringing (several times a day) to finally get through (January 22) to be told they’d sent me an...

So type 1 for 28 years (not greatly controlled throughout teenage years) and for many years I’ve had background retinopathy changed about a year ago to mild, I’ve now just had a letter following an...

    Maculopathy letter

Hi, Hope you are well! I was diagnosed with macula Edema and went on to have eye injections. It was by far the scariest thing I have ever experienced (at the time) however with hindsight it really wasn’t that bad and took my vision back to 20/20. I have been stable since 2017. I am still checked...

    Silly question about Hypo's

Yea unfortunately if it goes too low your most likely going to collapse! You could maybe amend your settings so your sensor alerts you when your bloods are dropping but at a slightly higher number? Mines at at below 5 so just gives me the chance to have a snack first if needs be to try catch it...

Type 1 Type 1 diabetes and pregnant

Morning, try not to panic! I fell pregnant with my little boy unexpectedly and was around the same as you. I lowered my hba1c over time with the help of my diabetes team and all was well throughout the pregnancy! I know everyone is different but it’s what you do from here that’ll make the...

Those readings are pretty impressive after treats! I’m on insulin and wouldn’t have had that kind of reading no matter what I did! Hope you enjoyed lol! [emoji3]

    Sensor

Hi, I’ve recently started using a Libre too. Funkypumpers.com do some pretty good arm bands etc. To be honest though so far mines been pretty hard to budge even with two little ones hanging off me (literally) lol.Hope this helps! [emoji3]

Over compensating when treating a hypo

I swear by jelly babies! Easy to keep track how much your having and not over treat! Also have something like a plain biscuit afterwards.
