    Osteopenia, low carb & calcium

yeah some of what Ken Berry makes sense, but he definitely has some weird contradictory views on some things especially when it comes to vegetables and fruit. He will often recommend some things saying man has evolved over thousands of years to eat them but then will dismiss things like...

Cholesterol lowering... does it make you live longer?

I think genes have a lot to play, all my family on both sides had diabetes (going back multiple generations), all had poor lifestyle, drank to excess, no exercise etc. all ate cakes etc despite diabetes. Nearly every one lived into their eighties/nineties. All were independent and relatively...

    High blood pressure anyone?

How did I get mine down. The meds have helped , They brought down from 150-180/100-110 to around 145/90. I have found only two ways to then reduce to normal values (with meds). For theSystolic I can get this to around 120 by low carb diet. For the Distolic only exercise had an effect( and I...

re orig post statins with trig 0.67 and ldl of 4.6 and they want you on statins? those sound great my trigs are 5.6 and Ldl unmeasurable due to ratio/trigs!!! I get impression from conversations with my surgery these days is that anyone with diabetes is put on statins.

Are others having their regular review cancelled?

No checks here not even a phone review. No eye test bit thats done by GP. Same for everything ie non diabetes issues. Phone appointments are a joke. I have two choices discuss my health issues in an open plan office where 200 people can over hear or take a day off waiting for a telephone...

    Eye tests

the never bother to inform when rules change. My optician used to screen for diabetes but that stopped some years ago without telling me. Then the regular eye test changed to two years without telling me. Now it seems the retinopaty is changing to two yrs when last time had, they said see you...

    T2 AND CHOLESTEROL

Mine is slightly higher with bad trigs and ratio between good/bad bad enough they cant measure the good. My GP uses some program which tells me I have 30% chance dying in next 10 years. So they keep pushing statins as treatment. Surprised not same for you!

Anyone with a Bmi of 25 managed to bring BG levels down with diet alone?

well I have a BMI of 33 and find it easy to cut sugar levels by going low card. The hard part being to stay on low carb. I do go to Gym 3/4 times a week so maybe not fair to say I cut them with diet alone.

Don't involve yourself in the blame game.

You know in my case hard to tell, all my family going back at least 3 generations are diabetic except for one. So I dont I thinke genetics plays a part. However I don't care if my 'bad' choices over food gave me this. Living on salads for fifty years vs eating what I like, is a price worth...

    Statins

I am constantly pushed statins due to diabetes. This is because also have high cholestrial/bp. Their program shows diabetics have high risk of dying . Maybe you have other conditions and that is why they are being pushed to you? Personally after doing a lot of research I wont take statins like...

had sweets and my bg was still low

This doesnt surprise me, coke and chocalate seem to have a very low effect on me if not taken all the time. Bread and some fruits are the opposite, resulting in quick and massive spikes. However although I can tolerate the odd day with nothing but coke/chocalate/crisps and maintain a low...
