Type 2 Metformin ER not working as well as Metformin

Good point! I didn’t even think of that. I think I’m running low again. I was talking iron supplements, but they were destroying my stomach.

Type 2 Metformin ER not working as well as Metformin

Hi, My doctor switch me to Metformin ER due to some tummy trouble (turns out it wasn't the Metformin). Anyway, I am finding that the ER is not controlling my blood sugar as well as the regular Metformin. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience, or am I imagining it. LOL...

Type 2 How does anemia affect A1C results?

I am anemic and my A1c is very high compared to my FBS. My Endochronologist indicated that it was probably due to my anemia. My morning numbers aren’t great, but I have not yet started testing in the evening. I think I’m going to start after reading about the dawn phenomenon

Type 2 Ate a cupcake yesterday

And FBS this morning was the lowest it has been since being diagnosed Something similar happened last month when I ate some frozen yogurt. Very very confusing. It’s my birthday tomorrow and my staff brought in cupcakes. I was not going to eat one, but then caved. I was and still am filled with...

    Not Getting Enough Calories

Thank you all for your wise advice. I never even considered the "giving the pancreas a rest" angle with relation to eating more than 3x per day. I do need to lose weight, so eating fewer calories is a good thing. However, I know that if you don't eat enough, your body thinks it's starving...

    Not Getting Enough Calories

I do keep a food diary. Today I ate a yogurt for breakfast. 3/4 of a crab cake for lunch with a few thin melon slices. For snack I ate 2 lite rye crackers with almond butter.

    Not Getting Enough Calories

Only eating 90g of carbs per day. Most days less than that, as I am only eating 900 calories. Here in the US, the standard amount of carbs for a diabetic is 40-45g per meal (over 120g per day)! Which is crazy in my opinion, which is why I took myself down to 90 max. Have only been on the...

    Not Getting Enough Calories

I don't think eating 900 or fewer calories a day is healthy. I do eat Greek yogurt most mornings for breakfast. My blood pressure and lipids are very good (on meds for those), so I'm not overly concerned with the high fat, I just don't desire it.

    Not Getting Enough Calories

Honestly, the thought of eating those foods is nauseating to me right now. I can barely choke down a yogurt in the moring! Although a scone with double cream sounds lovely  I'm not really a meat lover or eater, but I am trying. My original doctor never ordered an A1c and was only...

    Not Getting Enough Calories

Hi, I'm newly diagnosed T2 (since March) taking 2,000 mg. Metformin/day. I was on 1,000 mg. Metformin/day, but Doctor increased as I was not having great results on the lower dose. I'm on a moderate carb diet (90g) and 1200 calories. However, I find that I am not eating enough calories. Most...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi I'm Linda and live in the United Sates. I'm newly diagnosed with T2 (2 months ago, FBS was 339. Doc did not order an A1C) . I take 500 mg. of Metformin 2x per day. I've made a complete lifestyle change since my diagnosis but am frustrated by slow results. My BG had come down to the 150...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi All, I'm new to the group and newly diagnosed. I'm also in the US, so the BG measurement numbers are different. I was diagnosed 2 months ago with a FBS of 339. Doc did not order an A1C, so I have no clue as to what mine is. I've been working diligently to get my numbers down, but for the...
