Diabetes eating sugary foods & self harm

Hotel Chocolat Batons can be a good choice, I find I can eat one or two of any type with little worry of a spike - but as ever with this it's entirely personal and the only way to be sure is to test and find out for yourself.

    Covid vaccine

19 days post jab, FBG finally 5.2 :) "usual" responses to food throughout the day. Looks like I'm through that at last. YMMV.

    Covid vaccine

16 days since vaccine, and finally things seem to be settling. Slightly high FB this morning reading 6.0, could happily put that down to stress - yesterday boiler sprung a leak, water into electrics, no hot water, no heating, no electric; BGas highest level home cover in place, earliest they...

    Covid vaccine

Same here. Woke up to 8 this morning! Then after a breakfast of a coffee with double cream and coconut oil, hovered around 7.4 for 5 or 6 hours. Decided to throw some carbs into the mix to see if it would shock it into lowering (often does), a single ryvita dark rye with a wedge of cream...

    Covid vaccine

T2 (in remission, diet controlled) here. Had Pfizer 9 days ago. Jab was painless (some finger pricks are worse!), no sore arm - but the next day felt terrible, aching, super tired, chills, but no temperature. Day 2 was much better. Back to 95% or so by Day 3. Now feel fine, but fasting BG...

T2s: What was your fasting BG this morning, and what did you eat yesterday?

5.8 FBG this morning. High for me, but then yesterday was a bit of a carb blow out celebration :D ... Pizza Hut pan pizza, 1/2 bottle of champagne and low carb lager for dinner (7.8 after 2 hours). Dropped as today has gone on, 5.4 2h after breakfast (bullet proof coffee), 5.1 2h after lunch...

Anyone here recover from burning feet and/or hands?

From starting LCHF it 6 months to get rid of neuropathy (hit hba1c of 32 after 3 months). But feet were super sensitive, so that walking barefoot even on carpet was a bit sore (even on fine sandy beaches) - this took 18 months to resolve, and can now happily walk barefoot everywhere. My...

Advice on drinking and going out

Spirits at 40%+ - vodka, gin (although watch out for liquor versions with sugar), brandy, bourbon, whisky, etc are all no carb. Liquors - like sambuca, cointreau, etc are full of sugar and therefore carbs Champagne, cremant, red and white wine in general are all low carb - watch out for...

You can order from them direct, DPD next day delivery available: https://www.skinnybooze.co.uk/collections/low-calorie-beer/products/skinnybrands-lager-cans?variant=19189876165 Not quite as good as Michelob Ultra on the carbs, but marginal difference personally on the blood levels. Good...

    BEER

It's all about the carbs, and entirely individual. Know the content of what you're putting in, keep to whatever limits you allow yourself and test your BG reaction (before, after and during if that helps); then you'll know how it affects you :) And then there's the other factors to consider -...

Type 2s: How long did it take to get HbA1C below 42

Initial HbA1c 74, 3 month blood test later (longer to get the results): 32. Followed LCHF (no other change, stopped exercise to control BG via diet first), approx 20 to 50g carbs a day, sometimes up to 75g at the weekends, with much experimenting to see what worked best. 1000s of data points...

    BEER

You're absolutely correct. I can quite happily demolish a box of Michelob on a friday night - 12 bottles. A total of 24g of carbs over a four hour window, with a BG total keeping in the 5s for the duration. Paired up with cheeses, cold meats, olives, and face meltingly hot pork scratchings...

    BEER

Michelob Ultra lager, a light 3.5% low carb lager. 2g carb (none of which is sugar) per 330ml. Tends to push my BG finger prick test to 5.8mmol/L after a few pints. Bud Light is also 3.5% but has a few more carbs. Tends to push my BG finger prick test to 6.4mmol/L. Coors Light has more...

I highly recommend these pork scratchings: https://www.hotsauceemporium.co.uk/shop/fiery-snacks-and-nibbles/196/psycho-scratchins-x-3-naga-pork-crackling/ They're so hot, you can't eat too many of them :hungry: Plus some pecans, brazils...
