    Anyone getting Libre 2 yet?

I would say it is as accurate as the libre 1. It is proving very useful for the alarms though. You have option to turn them off, have only for low, or high or none. I thought the Abbott website said they where the same price? It cost me £48 which is what I’d been paying I thought...unless I’ve...

    Anyone getting Libre 2 yet?

I have self funded libres every now and then and im wearing a libre 2 now. The alarm you can set is really useful! No hypos yet..but I’ve turned it on to sound if I go high, which for me (trying to improve control) has been really good! So far really impressed...it s a really loud siren...

    Combined pill and insulin resistance

I took the combined pill for help with period pain, which it didn’t help with but I had the worst hba1c I’ve had in the past four years so stopped. I’ve now been advised to try the mini pill as this doesn’t impact blood sugar levels apparently. It can be so hard finding what works for you. Will...

    Menstrual cycle

Yep I become more insulin resistant before starting my period each month. It’s the pesky hormones! I chatted to my specialist nurse and she suggested upping my background insulin by 20% to start with then back to usual amount once fee days in and numbers level out again. I tried the pill for 2...

HbA1c up - have been trying quite hard - what next?

Try not to let the med and driving be too much of a worry. I have taken Repaglinide and Glicalazide in the past, both under the needing to test as can cause hypos. I informed my car insurance and they said it’s fine, it’s not based on medical. Didn’t change anything! Once I was diagnosed type 1...

    Type 1 High blood sugars

Good luck I usually find my team are great and suggesting new dose ratio or making some changes when I’m seeing higher numbers. They can help you work out your correction dose too, and at what number to do it, good to usually count since when you last injected too, as don’t want to stack...

    Help with hypos please

Agree, the timing of the dose before the meal can help...my team advised me (and we are all different so best speak with your nurse) to try 15 mins before eating...to let it start to work a bit, and of over 50g carbs in the meal to split the dose, some before some near the end, that helped me...

    Coeliac disease?

I have family history diabetes, type 1 myself and dietician recently tested me for cealiac, was negative. But I believe there’s a strong link with the two.

    Pre-diabetes - hb1ac 47

I was told by a chance blood test that I was prediabetic. It was a surprise as I’d not expected it. I did have gestational diabetes history. This was 2 years after last child. I kept my hba1c at 44, 47, 48 and then it jumped into 50s, 60s etc despite all the changes and effort. I’m now late...

    Apprehensive in my old age

From what I know jardiance is a newer med it may be why they are suggesting it? You are in the right to choose what med you have, Drs will offer a suggestion. Is your current med no longer working well enough? If you have good blood sugar control and good hba1c results... I took it for a month...

    Recommend Reading on Insulin

Oh yes I agree, the Bertie online course is brilliant! Free just log in and full of information. Best of luck, maybe with more time it’ll become clearer what type you are. It took 4 years of me going from prediabetic, type 2 and then 2 years of lots meds and diet not working to finally getting...

    Recommend Reading on Insulin

Hi, I’ve been on insulin for nearly 7 months now I think, I’m loosing track. I found this book really useful and very informative. Nicely written not overly medical or complex, for type 1 and insulin and daily living and managing it all. Take Control of Type 1 Diabetes A Comprehensive Guide to...

How do you rotate injection sites?

I use legs and stomach for fast acting and top buttocks for long acting. I am a bit haphazard with remembering my last site though, and aim for somewhere different or the other side, but I should try and come up with a clearer system. As it’s at least 5 times a day usually.

    Libre

It can be so useful and I find it helps if I’m out busy or feeling anxious to just be able to scan and see a number. I did also find it had the opposite effect when the numbers I was seeing weren’t in my range at all! I self fund every now and then as I don’t seem to be able to get one on...
