    High ferritin levels

Has anyone had high ferritin (stored iron as I understand it) with Type 2? My most recent blood test has shown very high levels. It doesn’t appear that it’s tested as standard so the last comparison I have is back in 2020 when it was at the higher end of normal but within range. I’ve read...

High fasting (morning) levels - Average 12.0

Without sounding like I’m oversimplifying it sounds like your diet is not all that low in carbs which is probably keeping the readings up a few more mmol than they might otherwise be and in turn your HBa1C is staying high. Have you ever tried a period with low carb not just lower carb? These...

    Cinnamon

There is some info here: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/natural-therapies/cinnamon.html It’s one of those things that probably wouldn’t hurt to try but it’s not a magic solution. The big dietary and lifestyle changes should still be the priority and will have a far greater impact.

    Eating out nightmare

That’s certainly another option and if you’ve got the control to get straight back to it the next day I applaud you. As someone who is on their second attempt to reverse Type 2 having slipped back into terrible eating habits I’m nervous about whether one meal would really stay as one meal. I...

    Eating out nightmare

A lot of Italian restaurants will have a grilled salmon or something similar tucked away on the menu, although I know there are some that seem to do just pizza and pasta and that’s it. As others have said, I’ll always try to have a look at a menu in advance and find what I’m going to order -...

    Need more info

So a Magnum has 23g of carbs of which 20g are sugar. If you’re going down the diet-only approach you’ll have to ditch the Magnums and start checking the nutrition tables on the back of the things you’re putting in the trolley. Many people stick to around 20-30g of carbs per day. Some can go...

Back to work jump in readings

I’ve spent the last three weeks on holiday and have had readings in the 5s and low 6s through the day each day. I was re-diagnosed just before I went away so I don’t have much in the way of a comparison before that. I went back to work today and my numbers haven’t gone below 6 all day and...

Reversed back to diabetic. Any advice or experiences?

You’re definitely not alone. My HbA1c when diagnosed in 2019 was 114. I got it down to 26 with low carb and exercise. The GP was delighted and took it off my record. No check ups, no eye or foot tests, no accountability or wake up calls for me! Then came lockdown, the return of bad habits...

    Diabetic Maculopathy

Congratulations on becoming ‘Nanna’ - that must be so exciting. Hopefully it can also be a motivation for you to make the changes that will mean you can be around longer and can take part fully in the little one’s life. Type 2 is not to be messed with. It can take your sight and can lead to...

    Symptoms of T2 diabetes

I’ve now been diagnosed twice (don’t go back to old ways of eating folks!). The first time the main symptom was unbelievable thirst and then frequent urination, including during the night. I was also getting painful leg cramps. The second time the urination was there but not the thirst to the...

    Diabetes Reduction

I’m pretty sure I’ve fallen into that trap. Went for it full speed and had sugars down from 15/16 range to the 5/6/7 range in 10 days or so. My nervous system is now super sensitised - tingling in my feet where there was none before, some random pain in the arms and a costochondritis flare up...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Morning. A 9.9 for me today but I’m on my first week back trying to get Type 2 under control so I’ll take that. Only lower from here.

Dehydration in the first week of cutting out the carbs

Can I ask what might be a dim question… Would you advocate drinking salt water or just trying to add it on as much food as possible?

Dehydration in the first week of cutting out the carbs

Evening all, ‘Newly’ diagnosed Type 2 here. I say ‘newly’ in inverted commas because I was actually first diagnosed in 2019 and reversed it in a few months but since then have gone wildly off the rails. I’m about four days into cutting out the carbs. I’ve gone from a terrible sugary diet to...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.1 after a late dinner last night. Well... I say dinner. I actually just ate a load of Camembert because I got home from work late and didn’t fancy cooking.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Haven't posted in a few days, been having a bit of a low with health anxiety and life in general. 5.4 this morning. In a way I'm surprised it's not a little higher due to stress and emotions. Seeing a friend today for a trip to the cinema. Hopefully that will help me to settle.
