    I have had hypo unawareness. At one point it was so bad I wouldn't notice even in the 1s (this was many years ago) but now I am on a CGM that alerts me in the 4s and I can mostly prevent going below 3.6 that way. I still don't notice at 3.6 but I suspect my awareness will improve if I can...

    I just travelled from Perth to South Africa - got frisked twice to avoid the xray machines for the pump, got no sleep whatsoever, but sugars remained quite good (left them a little higher than normal) despite breaking a low carb diet and no hypos which was my main concern.

    Glucagon is released in response to too low insulin levels. This means if type 1s have too low insulin they can have a glucagon response which pushes their sugars even higher than they will be anyway due to lack of insulin.
