    What does this mean?

Hi all- I have two questions I would be so grateful for views on. I had a hba1c result back in October last year. It was 97. I made radical changes and started tracking my blood sugars, did low carb as much as I could. I got my new hb1ac result today and it has gone down to 54. I know this...

    Struggling with metformin

Hi all, So after a hba1c number of 97 a few weeks ago, I seriously got down to the business of Keto/low carb and focusing on my health. I started seeing great results after a week or so and numbers came right the way down (without medication). Here’s the issue - because my number was so high...

    Why isn’t it working yet?

Thanks - you’re right about using my high BG numbers as motivation. I’ve told my husband that for the foreseeable he has to see me as allergic to carby and sugary food. And actually treat it like a real life threatening allergy because essentially to my system as it is right now, that’s exactly...

    Why isn’t it working yet?

Thank you this is really helpful. Stress is a huge one for me - being a working mum of a very demanding three year old doesn’t help and I can actually see the BG spikes when I get stressed because I’m using a CGM. I’ve been keeping a note of what I eat, how much I exercise and how I feel since...

    Why isn’t it working yet?

Thank you - it’s very sobering because in thr past my body always reacted quickly to changes I made and I was seeing improvements in a few days. So I think your phrase “digging my own grave with a fork” is very true. But reading the posts on here gives me hope that I can still turn it around.

    Why isn’t it working yet?

I think a few years ago I did do a c-peptide test - would that be to check that for another type of diabetes other than t2? I do have excess weight to lose (my bmi is in the overweight range). I’m guessing the reason my sugars went up so drastically is because of a variety of reasons. I not only...

    Why isn’t it working yet?

No - I haven’t taken medication before and have only just been prescribed metformin which I started yesterday

    Why isn’t it working yet?

Thank you. May I ask what increasing basal means? It’s all relatively new to me so still learning :)

    Why isn’t it working yet?

Thank you - for other meals it’s usually fish with salad, or berries and nuts in Greek yoghurt, or chicken and veg. Yesterday the fish I had was the birds eye battered one (needed something quick) so that may explain it somewhat. I just did a reading now, haven’t had breakfast yet, and it’s 11.9 :(

    Why isn’t it working yet?

Hi all, I started low carb about a week ago. I’m logging everything I eat and doing an average of about 20mins (cardio) exercise every day. My overall carbs are low - but I’m not seeing a difference in either weight or blood sugar levels. For example, yesterday for breakfast I had an omelette...

    Help! I miss toast.

Hi all - a few weeks into very low carb eating and I’ve managed to find substitutes for almost everything I missed before. The one thing that I’m finding hard is toast! Especially when I’m giving the little one his breakfast. The warm buttery golden toast is so tempting it’s all I can do not to...

How do you tackle emotional eating?

Hi all, So with lots of useful tips and encouragement from the lovely people here on this forum, I started my low carb, healthy eating journey a couple of weeks ago. I was doing well - in just a couple weeks I have lost around 3kg and already felt so much better - until last night. I was having...

Finally ready to change- help me get started.

Thank you all. Does anyone know about the link between PCOS and type 2? I’ve been searching the forums and bits and bobs have come up but I was wondering if anyone with PCOS has achieved remission? Doctors can’t seem to decide if I have PCOS or not. But I’ve heard it causes insulin resistance...

Finally ready to change- help me get started.

Thank you all! I’m also looking up the eight week blood sugar diet from Michael Mosley. They have a companion recipe book as well which is quite helpful.

Finally ready to change- help me get started.

I’m getting there with controlling blood sugars in the day, but does anyone have any tips on how to control the morning ones? I find mine are almost always around 7. Is there a way I can reduce these?

This is so useful thank you. Is there an actual meter that tells you how many carbs you can tolerate?

Finally ready to change- help me get started.

I have a massive sweet tooth. Especially chocolate, but in the last few days I’ve found dark chocolate covered almonds or Brazil nuts seem not to affect my levels much. Apart from that I miss cake haha. And toast.

Finally ready to change- help me get started.

Thank you this is all really useful and encouraging. I do feel as though I can do this even whilst breastfeeding. This is my graph today after having been low carb for a couple of days. As you can see all day levels have remained under 9, but I’m not sure these are good enough yet. Over time...

Finally ready to change- help me get started.

Thanks again all!! Can I ask what am I roughly aiming for for my diabetes to be considered in remission? Blood sugars in morning today were 7.8 which is still high I think. Is it just a low hb1ac score or a combo of both hb1ac in range AND morning blood sugars low?
