Whole grain bread and apple setback - help!

Me too I also found the combination of bread and apple was the worst. Apple on its own was fine! Weird how our body works!

Prediabetic hb down from 44 to 37!

Thank you so much for your thought and concern. I’ll have a think about ways I can increase my fat intake. I think I eat plenty of protein already from cheese milk and meat. I do also constantly snack on nuts etc. I even eat pork hind as a snack. I sometimes eat greek style yogurt and avocado...

Prediabetic hb down from 44 to 37!

These words all sounds surprisingly familiar and really resonate with my feel. I have been thinking for a long time I can be ‘obese’ with a very low bmi. That all makes sense now. Thank you for explaining it all. I should aim to build more muscle or at least try not lose much more too quickly.

Prediabetic hb down from 44 to 37!

True I have been skinny since birth. I believe I was born quite low weight too. However I’ve always been sporty and been running a lot generally. It makes my legs quite muscular. I think I have quite a bit of muscle ( mainly on legs). It’s just difficult to build fat especially when I was...

Prediabetic hb down from 44 to 37!

Thank you for reassuring me. My mum and 2 brothers are both overweight. But my dad and I have always struggled to put up weight. How funny we have two extremes in the family!

Prediabetic hb down from 44 to 37!

You are so right about women losing muscle and bone masses. I’ll remember to get back on track to my exercises. Food wise, in a typical day I have: Breakfast - some (15g?) low sugar cereal with milk, fried egg and a slice of cheese. Lunch - chicken Cesar salad or whatever salad I can find on...

Prediabetic hb down from 44 to 37!

Thank you Jim. You are confirming what my instinct says too. Everyone is different. I think I’m just genetically skinny. My dad is definitely underweight using bmi calculation, but he’s the most fit, able and healthy person in their 70’s I’ve seen! I’m definitely not starving myself. I eat...

Prediabetic hb down from 44 to 37!

Just had the blood result. It’s 37! Been managing through diet only. Feel pretty chuffed about the result. But weight has gone down too much. Now Bmi is 17.7 ( pre diet it was around 20. Is this a concern? I was hoping to speak to the diabetic nurse about it. When phoned in for result the...

Does low carb reduce blood pressure?

I really enjoy Miso soup. Is it a good candidate for electrolytes by any chance? If it is it’s a win-win!

Does low carb reduce blood pressure?

Very good point! I shall remember to drink more water and get enough electrolytes. I’m thinking bone broth too!

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

I take your point - it’s probably doing both (less carb and more exercise) that gives the best result. Surprise surprise! I was kind of hoping I could get away with eating slightly more carb but exercise to burn them off. I guess the safest way is to do both. I’m going to carry on “eating to my...

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

I understand you prefer to stick to 1 because of the difficulty in controlling BG with your type 1. For me, I want to do the best to reduce my insulin resistance while I’m still prediabetic (I think pre type 2). I’m not so called carb addict but do enjoy carbs. The main thing is I want to all...

Does low carb reduce blood pressure?

Thank you so much Derek for explaining the science of it and your story. I should definitely keep an eye on my BP over a period and see the GP if needed. When I checked yesterday it was SLIGHTLY higher than what it was so perhaps it’s on its way to mend :). Thanks again and all the best to you...

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

When I ran 10K in 52 mins with a PB it definitely temporarily raised my BG. However whenever I kept it within half hour it always reduced BG whether it’s intensive interval run or slow jog. I do 7 mins very intensively - at least I’m out of breath by the end of it. However it hasn’t triggered...

Has anybody done ‘7 minute workout challenge’?

Ran first thing in the morning on Sunday without even a sip of water (I know it’s bad). After run BG was 5.1. Did 7 min workout challenge after a 40g carb dinner. 2 hour after meal BG was 7.4 Ran today after a 20g carb lunch. 2 hour BG was 4.4. Overall I think running is more effective than 7...

Does low carb reduce blood pressure?

Thanks all for your kind replies and advices. I have increased my water intake and have not felt dizzy in the last few days. I haven’t measured blood pressure yet so can’t be sure but I feel better. So hopefully it’s resolved now.

Does low carb reduce blood pressure?

Thank you! Good point to keep water intake. I don’t think I drank anything for the morning then tea with lunch. I don’t normally do tea (normally just water). Maybe I should try drinking more water and see. I’m very notorious for not drinking enough water!

Does low carb reduce blood pressure?

Hi, I felt dizzy today when walking down stairs. This was 2 hours after meal so I did glucose test it was 5.6 and blood pressure was 91/61. And I have felt dizzy for a couple of times in the last few weeks already. I historically suffer from low blood pressure. But usually it’s fine after...
