Which glucose meter do you guys use?

I use the Contour Next One and am very happy with it. I accept that there are inaccuracies but if you get into the habit of testing prior to meals and 2-3 hours after meals I find the data more reliable. Mine talks to my Medtronic 640. I occasionally (especially in the winter) use it to bolus...!

    leg pain..circulation issues?

Thanks Nicole...the physic has set me up with a range of exercise specifically to loosen the adjacent muscles and to smooth the passage of the nerve through the muscles. It is slowly improving but I will be glad to get back to regular routines. Helen

    Guardian sensor alarm help

Auto mode. Our settings are about the same I reduced my high setting from 11 to ten and have not had any real increase in alarms. I have my BG target set at 5.5-6.5 as I found much lower and I got into strife if I needed to drive. My pump beeps one hour before I need to calibrate unless I have...

    Guardian sensor alarm help

Me again. Felt a tad guilty and have now played with my settings and have reduced the "alert on high" from 11 to 10 as I realised I had not had an alarm on high for a while. So the holiday is over and although I reset it two days ago I have not had a "high" alarm so will leave it where it is...

    Guardian sensor alarm help

I have the Guardian Sensor 3 and was continually being "alarmed"...changed the settings. I have "alert on high": currently 11 because I sometimes run into trouble with pump suspending on 5.4 a couple of hours before waking. Then if I have breakfast (40g CHO) + correction it can occasionally...

    leg pain..circulation issues?

Yep, you are right...Sciatica! It is exacerbated by eating "soft cheese"! Being confined and in the high risk zone whenever anyone did a welfare check they brought me soft cheese (because they know I love it!). I even tried to refuse the last lot because I felt I had been living on it...goto...

    leg pain..circulation issues?

I have had sciatica before, and you are right...it is not nice! This is on the opposite side and a very different sensation. Planning to go to the doctor but when I checked to make an appointment...the rigmarole was amazing!

    leg pain..circulation issues?

Hi, I have virtually been confined to the house for 42 days. Over that period I have tried to keep up regular activity but find I am increasingly getting sciatic pain which I can almost keep under control with the standard exercises. However, I have also found that I am suffering a pain similar...

T1D and moving to Australia advice?

Totally agree with EllieM and Medtronic is easily accessed here (Brisbane). I can order them online (sensor/transmitter, wipes etc) but I go to local pharmacy for infusion sets, reservoirs etc, and they order them and I can pick them up usually 24 hours later. But you do need to be eligible for...

    Cannula insertion site getting sore

Yes and I decided to change cannula type and to change it every second day. I am sure it helped.

    Cannula stops working during use?

Hi Dancer, The problem when setting a temporary basal is that sometimes I hit the jackpot and need very little extra insulin (relatively) but on other occasions I need a lot. Difficult to predict. Advice from Endo was to have evening meal bolus for that correct if necessary 2-3 hours later, do...

    Cannula stops working during use?

I get this in the last 6-8 hours before I change the infusion set. Dr's advice was that the site deteriorates to some degree. Options are to change it more frequently or just increase the basal/correction doses etc. BUT as I also take additional time for the new infusion set to bed in I prefer...

    Flying with pump

I'm not in Britain so do not know how that works but flying further afield than the EU I was asked at almost every departure procedure to show my letter. Keep the letter as I used the same letter for years and only requested an update when I got the CGM. It is also useful if anything happens...

    Flying with pump

I travelled a lot with my pump. You need a detailed letter listing all the diabetic related stuff with you. Take the pump off and refuse to have it scanned...they will usually direct you to an individual with more authority and you can talk to them. Walk through scanners are OK. Diabetics...

    Dosing for Coffee?

I also count carbs for coffee. Long black (no sugar/sweetner) = 0 carbs, flat white (no sugar/sweetner) = 5-7 depending on cup size and 12-15 carbs for a cappuccino (with a light sprinkle of chocolate) depending on cup size. However I would probably go the temp basal route as the activity...

    Minimed 640g question

I would go to Bolus Wizard and then through and confirm no bolus. If your pump thinks you need a small bolus it will then tell you. If not it will tell you no bolus, and you press OK. If you just exit it may not "save" that info. Helen

    Reusing Medtronic Reservoirs?

You can reuse them but I was advised to only do that in an emergency as the plastic deteriorates and effects the insulin. You have also to be mindful of the seals...if they are not sealing properly then you could have delivery problems. I certainly would not reuse them routinely. Helen
