    Reversed my diabetes!

Thanks everyone. I'm definitely keeping to this lifestyle. I no longer have cravings for sweets, cakes etc which were my downfall before. I know I'm still classed as diabetic but I don't worry as much as I did at the beginning. I know I can keep it under control, without resorting to drugs, now...

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

Mine is a success story. In just three months of following a LCHF lifestyle my ac1 levels have gone from 50 to 38, I have lost 21lbs, 6 inches from my waist and blood sugars have dropped from constantly being 8+ to between 5 and 6.

    Reversed my diabetes!

I had my ac1 results back today and I've gone from 50 to 38 in three months! Can't wait to see my diabetic nurses face when she finds out how I've done it! She advised me not to 'follow any of those Atkins type diets as they don't work'. I've never felt so energetic and healthy in my life and...

    Fell off the wagon.......

Knocked the wheels off and shot the horses, lol! Had to take hubby to hospital, eye clinic visit, early morning and 45 min drive so no time for brekky. He suggested we stop off at Wetherspoons on way home . I had the American Breakfast which contains 142 carbs as I've just found out! So it's...

Told not to do low carb!

I did only see a diabetic nurse not a specialist nurse. She's already told me she isn't a specialist just the gp surgery based nurse who deals with diabetes check ups.

Told not to do low carb!

My levels were at 49 which the nurse said wasn't particularly high and she wants to see it come down to around 46. My cholesterol is at 4.2 which she said is good and nothing to worry about. I'm also doing fasting, eating between 11.30am and 7.30pm. I'm waiting for a bg meter to arrive which I...

Told not to do low carb!

Just been for my second diabetic check up and when the nurse asked me if I'd changed my diet I told her I was following a lchf diet. She became quite snippy and told me that would make me poorly and it wasn't advisable. I told her I was feeling very well, sleeping better and losing weight. She...

    Newly diagnosed

I am surprised as well considering how many family members have diabetes. My maternal grandmother, two of her aunts and my dad had it. My brother and three aunts have it and my nephew has type 1. That's on my records so you would think they'd have been a bit better at monitoring me wouldn't you.

As for weird diets... She's a bit behind the timeson the advice, as the NHS now actually does endorse a "weird" one, and has for the past year, I believe: low carb, high fat. Which is what works perfectly for a lot of members here, myself included. I've been in the normal, non-diabetic range...

    Newly diagnosed

I've just been diagnosed and had my first Dsn visit. I wasn't to surprised as I've been prediabetic for 3 years and, owing to family problems, have been living on junk food and takeaways for the last 6 months. Several family members have diabetes so I'm pretty familiar with it. I was very...
