    Teenager

I live in the states and don't know if what you guys may have available there. If you can get your hands on some gloves and mask, I would wear them in the store. If you can't get any masks, then some homemade ones may help at least somewhat. Yang Wang, an assistant professor of...

    Symptoms but Normal Blood Sugars

First thing that came to my mind when I read this was possible pituitary issue. (Pituitary is the master gland and it is localed in your head...If you were to put one finger on the bridge of your nose between your eyebrows and the another finger on top of your head in the middle, where your...

    Type 2 and shielding letter

I live in the states and I have found the difference between the States attitude about Covid & diabetes and UK take on it very interesting. https://www.diabetes.org/coronavirus-covid-19/how-coronavirus-impacts-people-with-diabetes Above is the link to the American Diabetes Association article...

Self isolating from work at school

I'm so glad....when I first read your original post, I was worried. Your symptoms were red flags and this virus has been known to be be more difficult in diabetics. I was hoping you were doing okay!! Interesting....we haven't been having that issue here (at least in my state) with people...

I hope you are doing okay!! If anyone has these symptoms in particular, contact your GP right away!!

Expected to go to work still.

I have been seeing this and find it interesting. The US has diabetics in high risk and it also doesn't differentiate. The American Diabetes Association says that there isn't enough data to say that diabetics are any more at risk than the general population for GETTING the virus but, if they...

Self isolation for 12 weeks ?????

In the US grocery stores are the ones hiring right now. Amazon, CVS, and Wal-Mart are all looking to hire about 500,000 employees (across the US) to do their deliveries. I don't know the extent of your "lock downs" but your grocery stores should be hiring your restaurant, theater workers...

    Isolated

I live in the States, in one of the "epicenters" we can still walk our dogs here. In fact, going on walks is encouraged (as long as you remain the appropriate distance apart). Personally, I have only seen a handful of people out walking so keeping my distance hasn't been a problem.

    Corona virus

I live in the States and so I don't know if this would work over there (maybe some version would), but I would contact the doctor that manages your diabetes and tell them that your job is putting you at higher risk of coming into contact with the coronavirus because you have to be in public...

    Help!

That is not a healthy way to loss weight. Poorly controlled diabetes will make you loose weight but has soon as you got your diabetes under control, it would almost certainly come back. You would have to be poorly controlled forever to keep it off and long term effects of that are not...

    Self isolating????

Diabetes or not, if you can self-isolate, do it. It can only help limit the disease from spreading.

    Diabetes and coronavirus

I think it would be smart, particularly since he is a GP (I'm assuming GP means general practitioner there the same as it does in the states). If he worked in specialty, I think it would be less of a concern. In the states, depending on the specialty, people are pretty good about canceling if...

    Reactions to trulicity

For many people it will pass. Some may have it only on the day of injection (which will either go away with future injections or they will always have some degree of problem on the first/second day); some may have an issue with in for a few weeks after initially starting, and, for some, it...

    Corona virus

I didn't think the UK had it as "severely" yet (All though, it seems to be climbing). I think the everybody is trying to get "visitors" back to where they belong. (Though it does seem to defeat the purpose).

    H1AC vs Fasting

My guess is if your numbers are good fasting but you have a high A1c then the most likely scenario is that your glucose is high throughout the day. It' s not quite clear if you mean immunity (like from viruses) or if you mean something else. I can't speak to immunity but I know that high...

Does vegetarianism help lower blood sugar?

My cousin's wife, who has type 1 diabetes, went vegan several years ago to support her sister who had to do it for health reasons. I was really surprised by her insulin requirements afterwards. They were some of the lowest I've ever heard of. It makes sense to me that may be true with...

    Any advice welcome x

Have they ruled out Cushing's? It is highly unlikely, but "highly unlikely" does not mean "impossible". Even if you don't have other symptoms, I would think that the degree of insulin resistance you seem to have would warrant an evaluation to make sure they aren't missing something. Some...

    Toes feeling strange

It could be early stages of peripheral neuropathy. Do ask your doctor if they could check a Vitamin B12 and folate. Metformin can lead to deficiency in these vitamins and deficiency, in B12 at least, can lead to peripheral neuropathy. (Just to be clear, not all peripheral neuropathy is...

    Medication

The first thing I thought was maybe you were misdiagnosed as Type 2. It may be that you have LADA (or Type 1.5). Timing could be right (as long as there is no chance you have been walking around with Type 2 diabetes for a couple years and not been diagnosed). People that have Type 1.5...
