    Children's snacks

Thanks a lot - no he's not diabetic and completely understand where you're coming from. His diet is quite carb heavy overall so just trying to sneak in a bit of variety. He also snacks a lot so wanting to try things that may sustain him longer

Thanks for the ideas everyone - will take a look through and see what he may like

    Children's snacks

Through researching my own triggers for high blood sugar, I've realised how carb heavy my 4 year old's diet is. Does anyone have lower carb suggestions (to buy or make) for a picky child's snacks - at the moment it's often bananas, berries, kiwi, plums, crackers, peanut butter toast, breadsticks...

    At home glucose tolerance test

Hehe, you're quite right and draught-proofing and losing weight are probably sensible either way! Take care

Can you have a normal a1c/fasting BG level and still have diabetic problems?

Glad the numbness has improved - must be good to know you're improving the symptoms. Gives me hope whatever my problem is too!

    At home glucose tolerance test

Thanks - think I will request full bloods as something definitely isn't right. Guess I can only find out through nose doctor trips and investigation. Whilst I'm glad I'm some ways it may not be diabetes, at least then I had an action plan in mind. I'm a bit overweight and thinking of going lower...

    At home glucose tolerance test

Ah thanks, that's a good idea and may feel a bit better than just drinking 75g glucose

    At home glucose tolerance test

Thanks for sharing - finding it such a minefield to wade through and this is really helpful in understanding. I'm just confused - some sources seem to say nondiabetics don't go over 8.6 nmol even with lots of carbs. I tested 9.something after a fairly generic medium-carb stew recently though...

    At home glucose tolerance test

I'm tempted to do my own glucose tolerance test with 75g sugar solution after being told not diabetic from blood results of fasting (4.2 nmol) and a1c (29) but still having other symptoms (none healing toe sore, tingling feet and legs, yeast infection). Doctor appointment isn't for a while and...

Can you have a normal a1c/fasting BG level and still have diabetic problems?

Thanks for sharing - it's good to hear from those who (may have) been in a similar situation. Because my diet hasn't been quite so limited until the last couple of weeks and a1c is under 30, I'm wondering if it's still unlikely. Guess a test is the only way to know for sure. Glad you stuck with...

Can you have a normal a1c/fasting BG level and still have diabetic problems?

Thanks for the video - will take a look. I must say this is all a massive learning curve either way!

Can you have a normal a1c/fasting BG level and still have diabetic problems?

Thanks all, really helpful to get a few ideas and experiences. I will discuss with the doctor. Confusingly, one said my foot pulse was strong but couldn't suggest why the sore wasn't healing. I have a mixed diet at the moment - been trying to follow vaguely Mediterranean but with random other...

Can you have a normal a1c/fasting BG level and still have diabetic problems?

Sorry if this is a silly question - my bloods came back normal - a1c of 29 mmol and fasting glucose of 4.2. I've been getting symptoms all in the last 2 months or so which seem consistent with diabetes - a toe sore that isn't healing, tingling, numbness and stinging in my legs, yeast infection...

    Blood sugar testing question

If you have a high reading (14.5nmol) that doesn't fit in with the readings either side (did them all few mins apart and the others were between 6.7 and 7.9), does this mean you just discount it as incorrect? How common is it that glucose readers do this? I'd washed and dried hands before (with...

    Low blood sugar in morning

Thank you Ellie for your explanation - it's really helpful. It may be something entirely unrelated but I think I went into a bit of a panic about the symptoms I've got, the slightly weird spiky results and the fact it's come on regularly in the last few weeks (I've not really felt low blood...

    Low blood sugar in morning

Hello, First time posting - I've been showing some signs of diabetes (which could also be other things) with tingling in one hand, a yeast infection, a non healing (for last 7 weeks) sore inside my big toe (doctor said it was a pressure sore from callus and my foot pulse was strong so not sure...
