Why do you follow a plant based diet?

I aim for 6 times per week, main lifting weights. Sometimes a spin class, but not all that often. A bad week I’ll only do 3, but normally it’s closer to 6. My usual routine is Push, Pull, legs , repeat. But when it goes a bit off track (usually working late), I’ll add in a spin, and not repeat.

Why do you follow a plant based diet?

Interesting combination for a sandwich! I fall on the ‘hate it’ side of marmite, but may try it just in case..! I’d definitely recommend watching game changers again. It’s not all around the fitness side (although that’s the main thing!), there’s another great documentary called ‘forks over...

Why do you follow a plant based diet?

Sometimes it’s just easier to say Vegan, and most people know what you mean (especially when in a food environment). This is what I tend to do (as I’m sat there ordering food in leather shoes!) @Beating-My-Betes has covered it perfectly. [emoji106][emoji16]

Why do you follow a plant based diet?

Thanks for your reply. I guess mines a fair bit different. I got into PB after watching’Game Changers’ on Netflix. I’ve always exercised and enjoyed weight training, so wanted to see if making the change would help with recovery and injuries. From there I started to investigate more of the...

Why do you follow a plant based diet?

Hi guys. It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything. In fact, it was just as I was starting to go plant based over 2 years ago! I’m type 1, and still follow a plant based diet (and will never go back). I’d be interested to hear from anyone else (type 1 or 2) who is following a plant based...

    Accepting Diabetes in my life

Hi Catarina. I guess I’m luckier in that I have had diabetes from the age of 5 (39 now!), so it’s all I’ve really known. My advice would be to get to know as much as you can about being diabetic and understanding how your body reacts to the condition (we are all slightly different). This will...

Changed to a plant based diet

Hi. I did the same about 9 months ago and found it easy too. I’m also a Type 1, so there were no issues with making the change. I have friends that have made the change and also my mother (none of which are diabetic), they have all lost body fat and report having more energy. One of them (who I...

    Advice please.

I do feel this post has been somewhat hijacked, but I think you’re missing my point. Surely eating a snack of a salad, or crunchy veg is better for you than a choc ice!? (In more wats than one). And a true plant based diet is the exact opposite to processed foods. It’s all about eating whole...

    Advice please.

Plant based diet is very different to Vegan diet! I know overweight Vegans! But not a single overweight PBD person!

    Advice please.

The simple way (although boring way) to look at this is your calories in needs to be less than your calories used, otherwise you will but on weight! Protein and Carbs have exactly the same amount of calories per gram (4) so having high protein and low carbs only works IF you don’t consume as...

    Really need some help

Let me try again...! If your levels are dropping from 20+ to 9, then you will probably feel like you are having a hypo! I think the first thing to do is get it in a good range, nice and slowly and then keep testing, testing, testing! to try and keep it there as much as possible and for as long...

Our 5y old son refuses the injections

I fear the people that are saying ‘just do it!’ don’t have a 5 year old son. I have a son who is 4 and getting him to wash his hair in the bath can cause uncontrollable tears, so image how inserting a needle into you, after previous experiences of pain would go down! After speaking to my mother...

Our 5y old son refuses the injections

Hi. This really takes me back. I was 5 when I was diagnosed (I’m 39 now!) I remember having to mix the insulin in a syringe and they needle was a lot bigger! I think the teddy idea is a great one. I remember I would do anything for a toy, so maybe some kind of point system would help. Every time...

    Problems at night

Hi. Don’t worry about this, I’m sure you’ll get it sorted and under control. It’s definitely something you won’t have to get use to! As a rough guide, 1 unit of insulin (novorapid in my case) should lower your level by 2-3, so 6 units should definitely have lowered yours! That said if your level...

Type 1 Lumps on injection site

Hi. I’ve read a few. Posts about this and the ‘should’ go away by them self, but it appears you have waited well past the recommended time. I saw a post the said liposuction can be used to remove them if they won’t go. I would recommend speaking to your GP or diabetic doctor about getting them...

Perfect sugars before exercise, horrible after?

Hi. Just a short note to recommend a book called ‘diabetic muscle and fitness’ the explains everything about weight training and exercise with regards to being diabetic. I highly recommend it (and I’m not on commission!)
