Ketones and Glucose both present in urine dip test

I’m not on any meds, pre-diabetic and diet controlled with extensive exercise. I had a large cappuccino and chocolate shortbread at Costa today . Very naughty I know. That would’ve been packed full of carbs on reflection .I normally have some level of ketones in my urine because of a low carb...

Ketones and Glucose both present in urine dip test

On a low-carb/keto diet and run 6 miles a day 5 times a week to manage my T2 and something I noticed has happened today which I’ve not seen before. Did a urine dip test and ketones were showing which is normal for me with this diet , but my glucose reading was also elevated. Never seen this...

Thank you, I do hope it does encourage others . Obviously I need to keep on it and not think I’ve beaten this because we all know it can creep back. I am convinced that low-carb has been the key for me.

    Lansoprazole

That’s really interesting I’d never really thought about omeprazole as I used to take it regularly, but since going low-carb and keto I’ve not need to take it for a long time. Never made the link between low-carb and a better digestion

Ultimate (hopefully) Christmas Thread - Tips, Tricks, "Hacks", Coping Mechanisms, Swaps, Recipes - Anything goes!

I tend to have a couple of beers on Christmas Eve for a treat but keep to low carb. On the big day - smoked salmon starter and traditional Christmas dinner but no potatoes and a few drops of gravy. No desserts but love a cheeseboard and a glass of port [emoji106]

    Coffee

It’s quite strange, I’ve been using unsweetened soya milk for over a year and now really like it. Coffee consumption went right down when I first swapped, but now I look forward to my early morning Cuppa.

    nightime weeing

When you first go onto keto or a low-carb diet, you do pass a lot of water as that is one of the first things, the body empties when low in carbs, so it could be that

    Diabetic Review

Definitely stress is a factor , I was keeping very fit and lost weight, but my HbA1c was still quite high and that was no doubt due to family stress. My GP also agreed and it was just a blip.

    Diabetes diagnosis

My experience with the diabetes nurse is a waste of time. I seem to have more knowledge of the condition then them at times. I manage my condition with my GP who is very supportive. I would be on meds if I accepted the nurse’s views, but with the GP support, I’m managing without meds on low...

    Metformin and type 2 remission

I run 5 times a week, usually 10k training run . Normally I will go for a run 90 minutes after a low carb breakfast. For example a plate of scrambled eggs. Today I did a 12k run , I have noticed you do feel more tired on low carb keto, but within an hour or so, I’m back to normal. I think...
