Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

Thanks @Goonergal I do take magnesium citrate regularly. I think it must have been a mild version of Keto flu. I am now happily established with Lchf and have lost 4stone in weight and my latest HbA1c is 39. I no longer get any migraines/headaches but make sure I keep my electrolytes...

    Relief at HbA1C result

Just like to thank you all for your fabulous forum with its very sensible advice. I was diagnosed type 2 in March 2020 with HbA1c of 50. With low carb eating and intermittent fasting my new result is now 40! So pleased with that result - I have also lost 2 stones and feel so much fitter too...

Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

Hi Everyone Just a quick update - I have increased both my salt and fat intake and am feeling great. My meter arrived and I am at lowest 5.2 (fasting) and highest 6.8 (two hours after dinner) so think I am well in the non-diabetic zone - and I am still losing weight, and thankfully the auras...

    Keeping busy during Covid

I am also working remotely during office hours but it’s lovely being at home for lunch and having no commute. In my spare time I am sorting, scanning and cropping 50 years of family photos and uploading them to photo books. A job I have been meaning to do for .... well 50 years really!

    Type 2 Bullet proof coffee

I read somewhere about Bullet proof coffee which has some high fat additions but I can’t remember where. Does anyone have the recipe? I think was recommended as being ok when fasting/ Keto thanks.

Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

Thanks California Lady. Actually my mother did have a mild sort of epilepsy which she described as blackouts which started in 1945 when she worked at the Post Office on the (noisy) telex machines - maybe there is a history of it - although why it should just start now at 62 I'm not sure? If...

Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

Thanks all, yes I will obviously have to bulk out my meals but after 40 years of low cal low fat that comes hard - I do struggle to eat more than about 500 cals in a meal - hence the 1000 cals a day, but I shall have to learn - I suspect I have been eating too much veg to fill myself up - as I...

Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

Thanks again - I have got into a good habit of not snacking and fasting for up to 16 hours a day so don't really want to stop that (and risk opening the flood gates again!) but perhaps I could add a high fat snack or two between my lunch and dinner? I do take magnesium daily and a multivitamin...

Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

HI Bulkbiker I enjoyed reading your story - an inspiration to me - also we love France and own a house there that (Covid permitting) we hope to go to in September for 3 months - but yes croissants were my downfall too! Can't wait to get a meter so I can test how much I am affected by them - I...

Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

Thanks for the replies. Lack of salt may be an issue as we eat little processed food and don't add it to veg - will try adding a bit more. Perhaps I will also eat a bit more fat - weirdly I seem to fancy cheese when it happens? I am mostly concerned as migraines have rarely featured in my...

Migraine aura with type 2 diabetes

Hello Everyone, I was diagnosed in February with a HbA1c score of 50 which is only just diabetic - which was a wake up call (although not sure why as my father developed it in his 70s - I am 62). Anyway I have been following LCHF diet and IF 14 to 16 hours a day, since and have lost about 1.5...
