Please don’t - you do a wonderful job on here. Just because it may be beyond me doesn’t mean others won’t benefit. Thanks.

    The Better Meter

I had a random hbA1C test at a doctor’s surgery where I worked in January 2018 . I had massively overindulged at Christmas, particularly on sweets. The result was 50. Thankfully I have never eaten nor enjoyed desserts! I changed my diet, lost two stone and the next test showed 42 three months...

Interesting. In my own case, however, I don’t eat breakfast immediately, usually at least an hour after I get up.

That’s the thing. Porridge just does not affect me. Today my reading was 6.4 just before breakfast and 5.4 two hours later. Thus is the case more often than not. Is this normal?

I will, thanks. It will be the One Touch, not least because it gives lower readings!

    The Better Meter

Following my previous thread and my short period of mass testing, can anyone advise as to their preference for one of two meters - the Gluco Navii or the One Touch Select Plus? There is consistently a higher reading on the former to the point where I just don’t know any more. Yesterday my...

    Huge difference in readings

So I thought that I would come back, as much of a courtesy as anything else, to update you. (I am prolific on an entirely unrelated forum and it is always nice to hear feedback) I purchased a gluco navii with 150 strips and also had 150 strips given to me by a surgery for whom I do the finances...

    Huge difference in readings

Thanks for your reply. I will await my new strips and see where we are. As I said, I have never had a double digit reading ever until last week, porridge or no porridge! I have read your link - very helpful. If only I hadn’t been allergic to eggs all my life! Thanks again.

    Huge difference in readings

Thank you - porridge issue noted. However, normally I would have a reading of 5.7 or thereabouts two hours after taking it. My issue is with the huge variances, especially with no eating in between. I have never had a double digit reading ever until the last week or so and, even then, it could...

    Huge difference in readings

So - two years ago I had a random hbA1C which showed 50 - on the verge of diabetic diagnosis. I was 14 stone at the time and am 5ft 9 in. The test was in January and I did overindulge at Christmas. I took some action, reducing my weight to 11st 10lbs and had another test - result now 42 after...
