Is anyone taking Invokana (canagliflozin)? If so, how has it affected you - if at all. Thanks

Hi! I take 100mg of Invokana a day. It took me a couple months to decide whether or not I wanted to take it. So far (9 months on from popping the first pill) no trouble at all, but I will admit that some of those listed side effects do look scary. Do you eat low carb? When I was first...

    Psyllium Husks

Thanks! I had a look on Amazon yesterday but was finding nothing too helpful (lots of purple complaints in the reviews!) I'll have a search for the one you've recommended.

    Psyllium Husks

Hello! Could anyone recommend a brand of psyllium husk that doesn’t turn baked goods purple? I’m getting very into my low carb baking experiments and plan to inflict them upon friends when we’re allowed to mingle again but could do with some husk that doesn’t make the breads I’m experimenting...

    Invokana (canagliflozin)

No, just this one. I've made a lot of lifestyle changes since diagnosis too - I'm more active and I eat pretty low carb (but not keto)

    Invokana (canagliflozin)

I take this drug. I was prescribed it on diagnosis but decided against taking it for a while as I'd been advised by people here that it didn't mix well with a keto diet (risk of ketoacidosis). After a couple of months I changed my mind, partly in fear of annoying the nurse (personal anxiety...

    Help! I miss toast.

I've been using this recipe in my bread maker for a while now with excellent results. I've also used the dough to make pizzas and bread rolls too. Husband now prefers my bread for toast!

Triumph (HbA1c) tinged with frustration (cholesterol)

Thanks everyone. I've still not summoned the energy to collect the cholesterol results, anxiety is getting the better of me at the moment and the thought of trying to contact the surgery is a wee bit too much. Just having to engage last week was hellish. I'm trying to sort it in my head but...

I'll get hold of them. Thinking back to the call she didn't seem overly concerned so I'm hopeful.

Thank you so much! I will endevour to get in touch with them to claim my cholesterol numbers just as soon as I have the mental energy to deal with them!

Triumph (HbA1c) tinged with frustration (cholesterol)

Hello lovely people. I've had my follow up blood test following my initial diagnosis at the end of July. I started out with an HbA1c of 100, and was told today that I've brought it down to 45. The Horrible Nurse Who Makes Me Feel Like Rubbish (of THNWMMFLR for short) couldn't quite believe...

New to this..blood sugar level 18.1 last night

Hi! I'm fairly new to this T2 game but wanted to just say a few words. I'm fat too, and found everything overwhelming at first. I felt ashamed and didn't know what I could possibly do to make things better. The people here are very kind and full of amazing knowledge which has helped me...

Frustrating Advice Re: Meds (SLGT2 inhibitors)

I'm so glad I didn't just blindly and obediently start taking these drugs. I figure a continuation of my lifestyle change approach is probably the best way forward at this stage, especially as I'm noticing a real difference. I'm monitoring everything. I've bought a fancy new notebook and...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

I should be working but this looks like the perfect procrastination activity. - What is your name? Emma - How old are you? 26 - Are you male or female? Female - Which country are you from? UK - Which city/area do you live in? Leeds - Are you religious? No - Pick three words to describe your...

Frustrating Advice Re: Meds (SLGT2 inhibitors)

Thanks. These are the kinds of stories I've found too. The GP I spoke do was unconcerned about ketoacidosis and more worried that by taking the meds and doing Keto that I'd end up having a hypo. No idea where that comes from. I've pretty much decided to hold off on the drugs for now and see...

Thanks. Having a hard time trusting my judgement, but I think I've decided to hold off on them for at least the time being.

Frustrating Advice Re: Meds (SLGT2 inhibitors)

Last time I posted here was my introduction post where I mentioned I'd been prescribed Invokana. Lovely people here gave me advice and pointers towards info about the dangers of a Keto diet and the wonderful world of SLGT2 inhibitors. Scary stuff. I decided to hold off taking the meds until...

    Sometime listener, first time caller...

Thank you! Learning not to beat myself up over this is one of the hardest parts so far. Aside from giving up potatoes. I do have plenty of fat friends who have perfectly normal blood sugar levels which is comforting and frustrating in equal measures. But still, I feel like finding this place...

Thanks, kicking my own bum is something of a special skill, but I'm working through it ;) I've not started the meds yet, I've decided to hold off until I've spoken to my GP (hopefully Monday) to get a better idea of the thinking behind it.

Okay, this is a bit of a concern. I think I'd better consult with my GP before I start taking this as I've been taking Keto very seriously indeed and don't want to end up damaging myself further!
