    Statins

Hi Alan, I’m 38 and type 1 (diagnosed at 15 months old) my consultant at my last appointment said they same thing - even though all of my results were good - HDL, LDL, Triglycerides and the ratio between them was good. The conversation went along the lines of that although my cholesterol is...

    Libre 2 First Sensor Use.

I put my in 24 hours before and also did with libre 1 so for a day I’m wearing 2 sensors at the same time . I find after 24hours it’s settled down - the variability of results when first inserted is due to your bodies immunoresponse to a foreign object in your body.

Noctura 400 - help with getting a custom mask

Apparently the NHS trial stated there wasn’t a significant difference in use and not use but the company who make it state that, that was due to lack of use. Apparently the masks have a timer so the company know how long and when they have been used - but obviously are they saying that as they...

    Daughter newly diagnosed T1-many questions!

Hi, I was diagnosed as a baby in the 80s and my mother did an absolutely amazing job of looking after me. She taught me that I don’t need to say no to anything and I can do anything with type 1 diabetes as long as I look after myself. I would really push for a pump - I got one in my early 20s...

    Laser treatment for Retinopathy

Just thought I would reply and say your idea was great - I booked an appointment with my normal optician and he spent ages looking at my eyes. It was really positive the new vessels that existed before have shrunk, no leaking and took new photographs of my retina to see how it compares no new...

Anyone been automatically put onto statins after type 1for 50 years?

What do you do to get your cholesterol to 2.9? I each mainly fruit/veg/lean meat and fibre. No processed food - hardly any snacks like crisps and biscuits (as in one packet of crisps a week) and I exercise - I’m not sure what else to do! [emoji23]

Anyone been automatically put onto statins after type 1for 50 years?

Hi - I’ve had a recent conversation with my consultant - I’ve been diabetic for 36 years (I’m 37) cholesterol was 4.1 at my last appointment and he sent me a letter saying I needed to start statins - apparently there has been some guidance that anyone over 40 who has type 1 should take statins...

Wedding Day Management - Type 1

Congratulations!!! I always put my libre on my thigh rather than my arm (I was knocking it off all the time!) and accuracy is the same as on your arm. Also I wear a pump and with out sounding crude I hook it onto my nickers rather than my bra then it is easier access when out and about - on my...
