    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Hi KK123, thank you for your reply. I had been wondering about LADA so it’s something I’m going to look into. I spoke to my GP yesterday and he said that overall my results are a little puzzling. Yes, my BMI is low, it’s now 18. He’s referring me to the practice diabetes nurse and said that I...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Thanks HSSS, I hope so too! I’ll certainly check out Dr Unwin MrsA2 as I’m keen to find out as much as I can. Thank you.

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

It’s frightening MrsA2 and Alexandra100! It’s no wonder that my colleague has been struggling with his blood sugars with the kind of advice he has been given. Thank you for your support, this forum has been invaluable to me over the past few weeks. I’ve been referred to the NHS Prediabetes...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Thanks bulkbiker, I’ve got to get my head around the fact that I’m going to have to stick to just that! Had yoghurt and nuts for breakfast today resulting in just a small rise in blood sugar :-) I think I wrongly assumed that things like shredded wheat would be ok. A colleague at work who is a...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Thank you for your replies, I think it’s definitely yoghurt with berries or eggs for breakfast for me going forward. Breakfast is when I’ve had the biggest spikes, the other meals haven’t caused such a big rise after 1 hour (usually going up to anything from 5.5 to 7.8) and then back down to...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Hi again, I’m wondering if any of you helpful people can offer any further advice to help me understand how I can reduce my blood sugar. Since my first posting at the start of this thread I have been using a Freestyle Libre for around 6 days. It’s already proved to be really informative and has...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Thank you Alexandra100. I’ll follow your suggestions and try the cream instead of milk. I like the sound of the berries instead of apple too. :)

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

I should also add that I usually have one coffee and two cups of tea a day with small amount of milk. Apart from that I drink water. I allow myself one medium glass of dry white wine once a week. Sometimes (no more than once a week) I’ll have a small cake or a couple of chocolates.

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Thank you for all your replies. I think I’ll go ahead and get a couple of the Libre sensors. Wonder why your meter/Libre readings don’t match your Hba1c results DCUKMod? A typical day’s meals would be rolled porridge oats with milk, cinnamon and grated apple (have checked glucose after this and...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Thanks so much DanW13, I hadn’t realised that I would be able to use it with my phone. I think one sensor for a 2 week trial would be a great idea.

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

I was wondering about trying to do a more intense period of testing (including trying during the night). It might be worth me trying this for a few days first before spending around £150 on the Libre. Then at least I could check more accurately as you suggest DCUKmod. I’d been on low carb for 11...

Thank you, I’ll definitely investigate the Libre.

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Thank you all for your replies, lots to think about. I think I need to have a chat with my gp to see where I go from here. I think more blood tests would be helpful to check some of the things which have been mentioned. KK123, I’m pleased you have told me about your experience, it goes to show...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Many thanks for your prompt reply. I was wondering about the Libre, it might be worth me investing in it as at least I would know what’s happening to my blood sugars during the night. Interesting about the effect statins can have on blood sugar, guess they certainly may not be helping it. I’ve...

    Struggling to reduce Hba1c

Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum and wondered if any of you could offer me some advice. Three months ago I was told that my blood sugar level was in the pre-diabetic range (Hba1c of 44) This was a bit of a shock as I am a slim 55 year old, not overweight (BMI 21), exercise regularly and I eat...
