    GMI vs eHbA1c

only just saw this reply- thanks for the info! interesting to see, and it makes more sense now. Hardly any data from lower average glucose results, and as you say, they don’t fit with the line they’ve decided on so much. I guess I’ll have to wait and see if I can keep my average glucose...

    GMI vs eHbA1c

Here’s the webpage I was using to calculate different average glucose levels to GMI. https://www.jaeb.org/gmi/ Whatever formula it uses must have a lower limit of accuracy- because it starts giving you a GMI higher than the average glucose. For example: (copied and pasted) Enter mean...

    GMI vs eHbA1c

Happy new year to everyone! I hope everyone is having a great news years, I’m just having an ill timed effort to understand the new GMI version of the estimated HbA1c on my dexcom. I’ve had one proper blood test done since it changed over, and it was pretty accurate. BUT. When I looked up the...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

‘’I always had to be extra careful if I'd drank wine evening before used to drop basal by 2 units but now need to drop basal by 40% for most of the day.’’ That’s a big drop! I haven’t had a drink since I got my pod, but sure I’ll have one or two over Xmas. The problem with tresiba was you...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Could it be because the insulin passes around your body more efficiently when everything is a bit warmer? Though body temp and outside temps aren’t always the same, I work outside pretty often (I’m a chippie so there’s no inside to go to until I/we have built it lol) and I get too hot very...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Hope you have a good Xmas too- Good luck with the basal tweak- mine is set to go lower from 13.00to 16.00 to ward off my afternoon lows, and so far the most annoying thing is that I’d got used to being able to snack things without taking insulin for them after work, but if I do that now I end...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Hallo- just in case anyone sees this, who gave me advice, it seems like advice on here has sorted my pod issues :) I’ve had a full three days with a pod testing out the new way of doing boluses and it made a very small lump that didn’t seem to interfere with insulin absorption. I don’t ever do...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Thanks, and thanks to everyone who is offering ideas and support, my diabetic nurse is friendly/lovely but often just says she has no idea when I ask her about any of this

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Cheers for the ideas- I’ll check out the speed setting, or ask about it tomorrow. I’ve been looking at ingredients in all the insulins I’ve tried and failed to be ok with, Lantus was the best long acting I tried (least painful but not great) and is made by a different company. I’m sticking...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Thanks :) I guess I’ll just try to leave less time before eating if I’m already on the lower side of target, and keep some juice nearby while I test my theories!

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Thanks- I haven’t really started playing with the extended bolus for bigger meals yet, but I will try it out for that. Was more wondering how to do a shorter extended bolus to avoid the lump building up, as suggested by Hopeful34 above. I always carb count, I just haven’t been home cooking as...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Thanks for your reply- it’s interesting to know that you’ve been told it could be the needles themselves causing you problems (and you have my sympathies cz sounds like your having a **** time of it as well). I had asked if it could be the needles bc so far they’ve tried me with four different...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Sorry for all the questions, but - How do you bolus over 15 minutes? I’m trying it with my pod but seems that half an hour is the shortest extended option, and now I don’t know if should do it 15 mins before eating or 30 mins, or if that will mean the fiasp is working too much sooner than the food?!

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

I think I’m gonna call pod support on Monday and hope I get someone with good English- I live in Norway so all my pod guides are in Norwegian and my norwegian isn’t good enough to understand them, this forum and google are my guides!

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

That is really interesting! And something I’ll watch out for, it does feel like if I’m around 4 or 5 before a bolus then everything works out as hoped, but if I’m already too high then it feels like I’m throwing a grain of sand onto a beach, until some time later when everything suddenly decides...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Thanks for the advice- I’ll try doing a short extended bolus and see if that helps. I actually ate lower carb before diagnosis, but I’ve had such a **** time with skin issues since then that I have no energy for healthier eating, and I find carb calculating for home cooked meals to be kinda...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Oh that sounds horrible! I really want the pod to work out, it’s been so nice not having to open several layers of clothes every tea break to stab myself :) I just can’t work out why the bolus is so unpredictable. Maybe there’s a trick to putting the pod on that I haven’t figured out yet, looks...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

thank you- I’m hoping it’s just teething problems! Do the red bumps go away again by themselves? Two of mine have been small but the third was a bump more than an inch big and very visible- made me glad it was on the back of my arm so I couldn’t see it myself!

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

I use fiasp, which you only take at the time of eating or 5 mins before- which I’ve been using with injections for a few months so far. I’m not having a problem with going low and then too high, which happened to me sometimes with pre-bolusing on novorapid. my pod isn’t registering any issues...

New podder and having a bit of a meltdown

Hi, I went onto omnipod 10 days ago, and some days have been great, but increasingly I’m having issues with the amount of insulin I bolus not having anything like the expected results. As in, yesterday I took 55 bolus units for 250 grams of carbs, when usually I’d use 25-30 units for that...
