    Side effects of GLiclazide

Thanks for sharing this, i have never felt so constantly cold since starting gliclazide. Interesting that you mention breast tenderness - while i dont have those, i am finding my nipples are tingling unbearably - so you've basically just described my side effects. Also good to know you...

    Triggers for Type 2 Diabetes

0g of carb/day (0g of food for 48h) and I have lost 11.2% of original body mass. Which wasn't that overweight anyway. 107kg down to 95kg, am 187cm tall. Levels still randomly around 9-10 mmol/l at waking/7am.

    Triggers for Type 2 Diabetes

Thanks, this approach makes sense to me. I just switched job and there is private medical cover but I haven't taken it out yet because I disagree with that in principle but feels like I will have to go there.

What is a "normal" fasting glucose level

I'm not disputing the readings, I'm making the point that the BMJ original research on diabetes uses 15mmol/l as normal. Which I am within, all the time. I would pass that original test.

What is a "normal" fasting glucose level

Those numbers are a dream for me. I only get 6.7-7.6 kind of ranges if I don't eat for days and do 4 hours of exercise a day.

    Triggers for Type 2 Diabetes

I'm really sorry, i don't know how I didn't see that. Doesn't help though does it? Non-modifiable as someone else also pointed out (thank you to them). Why won't the NHS test properly?

    Triggers for Type 2 Diabetes

None of the suggested changes to modifiable risk factors seem to work for me.

    Triggers for Type 2 Diabetes

Thanks for the ideas. "with practically no carbs in my system, I don't suffer the wounds that never heal, the thrush, the bad vision, the extreme fatigue or the NAFLD that went with it" I have no symptoms. None. Failing to see why a genetically inherited high number has anything to do with my...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

And if you dont want to dig through - this is the page the DNs work off. https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng28/resources/algorithm-for-blood-glucose-lowering-therapy-in-adults-with-type-2-diabetes-pdf-2185604173

Apologies forgot to post the link: https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng28

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was told that HBA1C was a valid enough measurement that they would not do fasting glucose tests or other diagnostic tests. I am actively refused such tests and it is only at the second NICE intervention stage (sugar lowering drugs, after metformin) that they will provide a sugar testing...

    Triggers for Type 2 Diabetes

Ok, so this page https://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-causes.html says "Type 2 diabetes causes are usually multifactorial – more than one diabetes cause is involved. Often, the most overwhelming factor is a family history of type 2 diabetes. This is the most likely type 2 diabetes cause." And...

What is a "normal" fasting glucose level

I'm starting to test my levels after finding out all metformin does is give me angina. I get ranges from 6.7mmol/l - 14.3mmol/l Looking at the primary source of BMJ research on risk, https://www.bmj.com/content/321/7258/405.short, reference [1] on https://www.diabetes.co.uk/type2-diabetes.html...

Fairly sure this doesn't count as a new diagnosis

Thank you, I buy the stuff with less carb. It's like 40/100 instead of 70/100 carb. I have no way of knowing if home made will beat that as my cooking tends not to come with a nutritional information label! I should probably make my own.

Fairly sure this doesn't count as a new diagnosis

Thanks I'll give some of that a try. Low sugar granola , meat/veg/salad , as you say yoghurt. Like your crumble idea.

Fairly sure this doesn't count as a new diagnosis

Thanks for the kind words. Hard work is fine and is why I'm having another crack as doing it myself. What I am saying is that doing that is massively detrimental to my quality of life (Low carb - I become grumpy and unbearable. Exercising: I am basically hating every second before after and...

Fairly sure this doesn't count as a new diagnosis

Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look. If it's anything like the others I've tried, I might get something out of it until my body adapts and my score goes high again over time, even without breaking the diet. This is what happened last time. 49 to 56 to 75. Ok the jump to 75 I had definitely...

Fairly sure this doesn't count as a new diagnosis

Pleased for you, I already did something similar when I was first diagnosed and got to 49. It wasnt sustainable for me then and unlikely to be now, but yes I am really angry and channelling that into total self punishment to see what happens. If it doesn't work I may just say stuff it and stop...
