    Carb spikes

5 months in from diagnosis and I can finally tolerate blood sugars in the 100-110 range without false hypo symptoms. Under 100 and it's a different story, however, I've really dropped the carbs and calories so it may just be I need to eat more. I can go 4 hours between breakfast and lunch...

    Overnight level not coming down.

Low is in the 80's. Once in the 70's. Confirmed with finger stick. When I was first diagnosed in August, I was having false hypo symptoms in the 140's. My A1C was 8.6 so average glucose was 200. I've been using the CGM to float my blood glucose down gradually. Now I can tolerate in the 115...

    Overnight level not coming down.

I use a Dexcom CGM. My initial thought was to use it temporarily while I’m figuring out what food works for me and what doesn’t. Almost four months into my diagnosis and I can’t be without it. I can’t seem to keep my sugars from going low (no meds) so the CGM allows me to see the downward trend...

    Strange blood glucose pattern

Trying to figure this out. I’ve had very predictable blood glucose patterns for two months. The last two days it’s as if a switch was flipped. Higher morning sugars, dawn effect lasting longer into the late morning, higher glucose elevations with food, and longer time for the glucose to come...

    Meal schedule

I agree. Plus, we don't live in a world where you can schedule your meals around your work schedule. At least I don't anyway.

    Meal schedule

Plenty of salt. I'm on Coreg but not for blood pressure. It's for the dysautonomia.

    Meal schedule

Not sure why it's a link. Not on any meds. My endo said to eat at the same time every day. Due to my dysautonomia, I can't tell if I'm hungry or not so I've eaten periodically throughout the day even before I was diagnosed with T2D. Now with the T2D, I eat based on my meter and try to do it...

    Meal schedule

Do most people eat on a schedule? I find I have no flexibility as far as meal times, but, it may be because I was recently diagnosed. (Post edited by mod, hyperlink removed)

Type 2s What motivates you to control by diet?

I’m trying diet and eventually exercise because I hated the side effects from the Metformin. I found if I minimize my carbs my blood glucose remains fairly consistent. I don’t know if this is sustainable, but, I’m going to give it a try.

    Carb spikes

Blood sugars running low today in the 100’s. No huge spikes. It’s crazy how it differs from day-to-day and even hour-to-hour.

    Carb spikes

Here's some numbers from yesterday. A boring diet, but, I'm still figuring this out. Lows are in the 100's and symptomatic. Good news is I can tolerate into the 120's now so that's where I try and eat something. 2 eggs, cheese, 1/2 avacado, 1/2 wheat bread 7:45a 136 8:54a 156 9:50a 126 3...

    Carb spikes

Thank you for the thoughtful reply! When I was first diagnosed, I took my endo's advice about diet. Little did I know I had no carb tolerance. So I would eat fruit, oatmeal, whole grain bread, sweet potatoes, etc in balanced recommended portions. When the carbs kicked in the blood glucose would...

    Carb spikes

I've felt low blood sugar symptoms with my dysautonomia in the past (before diabetes), but, when I checked my sugar it was always normal so I attributed it to the dysautonomia. Now with the diabetes, I'm not sure anymore. I suspect the sympathetic discharge from the dyautonomia relapse is...

Tried it. Doesn't help. I suspect it will take some time.

    Carb spikes

Small bumps is what I've been doing. No huge spikes. Small amount of carbs to treat. Unfortunately, even one grape causes a big spike for me.

    Carb spikes

That's what I've been doing. Small bumps all day. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-10 grams of carbs. Gradually bringing it to normal levels.

    Carb spikes

But what about the false hypo symptoms that I can't tolerate at this time?

    Carb spikes

I agree. However, the dysautonomia relapse is causing an unbearable sympathetic discharge that amplifies all of the symptoms (blurry vision, dizziness, cognitive impairment, etc) of glucose excursions, false hypos, etc. Believe me, I would love to not eat so often. Stimulating an insulin...
