European Commission will ask DVLA to change driving laws for people with diabetes

    1. Some confusion here, didn't Europe introduce this law in the first place? 2. Higher blood sugar levels through the night means bad control, you would do this to keep your driving liscence. 3. Also when you are awake to take sugary food, when you are asleep you are asleep!!! So why did Europe...

How early before your meal do you inject?

What Is 85 - 100 or 95% ? I though blood sugars range from 1.8 to 44. 1.8 extremely low and 44 extremely high. With around 5.7 being Ideal. Is the other scale new, American or used on pumps?

Would i still be classed as a diabetic??

Do you mean 4.1 not 41. When I measure my blood levels it ranges from 1.8 to 24. (Extream from low to high). Don't understand the other way of measuring blood gloucose levels. Is there another scale? But 4.1 is good but probably indicates you have good control rather than be cured? But...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Thanks robert72 So really in an ideal world you should have a spare sensor ready just in case one falls off. Or just go back to pricking your finger while a new sensor arrives. It's all down to how much you can afford.

Sorry if this as been asked before, can can you reuse a sensor if it falls off? If so, how do you re-do putting it back on to your arm? Abbot 's information states that you use a new sensor! Do you send the fallen sensor back and get it replaced free of charge? These sensors are not cheap! Any...

Not many clinical trials for long term Type 1 Diabetics

I have noticed that the amount of clinical trials for long term type 1 diabetics is NIL. I would like to take part but the only ones I have found are for Type 2 diabeteics or for newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics (Diagnosed within 6 Months). These two research programmes are of NO use to long...

Cure for Type 1 diabetes imminent

So the two main obsticles now are: 1. Your body attacking the new beta cells like it as done in the past to make you type 1 diabetic. Ans: Encapsulation of beta cells. 2. Rejection of donor cell as they are foreign bodies from another human. Ans: Turn your own cells into new beta...

No link between Driving & Hypo while you are asleep!

Why does the DVLA link all hypo's with the ability to drive? If you have a severe hypo whilst you are asleep during the day or in the night when you are in bed, why should this count towards the DVLA question regarding severe hypo's? It's like asking Usain Bolt to run the olympics...

    New technique for finger pricking!

I have type 1 diabetes and had trigger finger on my left hand wedding finger. My GP refered me to a private hospital with NHS funding to see a hand specialist, the specialist (May have been commision lead) suggested I have the operation. He went through the steriod options but said in his...
