    Dawn phenomenon strikes again

I take morning and night time doses so 7units in the morning at 8am and then 10units at 9pm. I adjust my basal accordingly depending on if I see a trend over a few days. I've tried increasing my night basal before and ended up in hypo throughout the night. I might try increasing it again and...

    Dawn phenomenon strikes again

Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and enjoying the warm weather! I struggled with the dawn phenomenon before but changed my evening dose of basal to just before bed to 10pm instead of at dinner time at 6pm. This helped massively but after a while I noticed my basal...

    Rollercoaster day - why?

Unused (unopened) insulin left at room temperature can be returned to refrigeration but must be used within designated days of initially being stored at room temperature. It shouldn't have ruined it as long as you use it within the time frame of it being left out at room temperature. Possibly...

    Smoothies

It's only 30g of carbs not even that. If insulin ratio and bolus is correctly done it shouldn't take you high

    Smoothies

I have breakfast smoothies all the time, as long as you balance out the sugar with fats you don't tend to get spikes. For instance I sometimes have smoothies with scrambled egg and avocado alongside to balance it out, it dampens down the sugar spike. The smoothie below I can have on its own...

What is low carb consider as in grams per day?

I probably take in 100-200g of carbs a day, I thought that was a normal amount as that's all I've known but since becoming T1D my diabetic nurses have said I eat a very low carb diet. I haven't purposely chosen a low carb diet I just naturally eat that way. I'm fairly active and go for three...

    Get up and go GONE

I was diagnosed about 8 months ago and still feel constantly exhausted. Even if I have a decent night sleep (which is uncommon) I will still end up waking feeling like I haven't slept. It's difficult isn't it because everything then seems like chore to do. I hope it eases soon!

    Dawn phenomenon

Thank you all for your comments, I think because I am aiming on getting pregnant in the near future they want my morning BG to be below 5.4mmol on waking. As pre pregnancy and during pregnancy the range and levels are very strict, so just wondered if there was anything anyone has tried to to...

    1/4 unit insulin pen device

Hello @Juicyj! Thank you, yeah I didn't until I had a discussion with a diabetes nurse whilst on shift the other day and she mentioned she found a 1/4 unit pen but couldn't find it when we looked. Okay no worries I'll look into it after work today. My control at the moment is good but it's...

    1/4 unit insulin pen device

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all well! I'm very new to this as was only diagnosed T1D 6 months ago. I just wondered if anyone uses a reusable 1/4 unit insulin pen device for Novorapid. I am currently using Novo pen echo 1/2 unit device. I have heard that in the UK they don't have them but...
