Wits end - any similar experiences?

Last night, under the usual 9/10 starving feeling, I had dinner of a large (non diabetic friendly!) tuna pasta bake (homemade). Immediately after eating, back to the 10/10+ feeling of hunger and complete emptiness... I won't go over again how incredibly unpleasant this is, living 24/7 and...

UK - and yes psychologist ! I have had an MRI scan on my brain and spine (for other symptoms such as numbness to limbs, pins and needles and severe headaches). Gastro said he wanted to rule out malabsorption and other stuff before endoscopy and colonoscopy...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

I have another gastro appointment in two weeks where I will be told if I am suffering malabsorbtion and pancreatic tested and enzyme replacements will be discussed. I will ask about an endoscopy then .. If this symptom continues to accumulate for the next two week - it is now getting worse by...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Thank you - it really is so awful. It is getting worse by the day. Seems to be accumulating, never getting better just more and more hunger all the time. I write this at my desk in absolute despair I feel so hungry and empty - yet I know I shouldn't be... It is like some form of torture - I...

Not yet. They want to rule out pancreatic issues first apparently (tested low for enzymes- having a second test to confirm). Whether or not low enzymes (and malabsorption of nutrients) would contribute to this extreme feeling of hunger is unknown - but obviously needs addressing.

Thanks for your post. Understand that it food intolerance can occur later in life. My mental health is fine apart from the anxiety this hunger is causing. Its chicken and egg I suppose. I have been examined by a gastroenterologist, tested negative for celiac too. He has asked me to re-test...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Hi there - oh no sorry - I don't feel uncomfortable at all - pleased to keep going - I was more worried about how much of your time I am taking up! The food intolerance is worth thinking on. I wonder, though, at the age of 50+ why I would develop a food intolerence now after never having a...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Thanks - appreciate all you say.. I tried very low carb for about a month. This didn't help, I lost some weight though, however didn't really need to. they intense hunger feeling was just as strong. A 5 egg omlette (yes really) with cheese for example would just cause more hunger. No to...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Thanks so much for the conversation. It's a thought (the ulcer thing) but perhaps my description of 'pain' is not correct. There is no traditional pain, just that message that I need food but really need it urgently. How can I compare it.... like anyone would have if they had not eaten all...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Hello - thanks for replying. Perhaps the pain would be best described as not a sharp pain or like pain I have ever experienced. I don't think it is an ulcer. It is a feeling like my stomach is empty (which it is not) .... but then some. Like it is a complete vacuum which worsens, not gets...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

All - an update from this end. I am still experiencing all the symptoms mentioned and the one which is getting worse is the constant hunger I am experiencing. I am doing all I can to get to the bottom of this. My gastroenterologist who tested for enzymes (fat absorption)- reports I am...

Thyroid was tested. Within range (TSH was just over the low point and T4 was just under the high point) - so near hyper than hypo... but Dr wasn't;t worried. Leptin - not tested.

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Update on my situation. since last being here, I have seen an endocrinologist and a gastro specialist privately as GP has reached end of ideas. Had another HSAC1 test all fine, plus a fasting test which was 5.1 so also fine. So it looks like no diabetes causing this - the day before the...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Started a quite a few months ago but intensified now.... I have a number of other horrid things going on - numbness (hands) pain and numbness (legs) complete lack of temperature control (both hot and cold), dry mouth, thirst, fatigue, insomnia - you name it.... it feels like my system is...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

In answer to the recent posts - I am not underweight, but I have lost weight overall (up to stone or more). I seem to be putting 1 or 2 pounds back on - well I must be on 3000-4000 Calories a day! I'm not on a low carb high fat diet, but then again I never have been all my life - just tried to...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Thanks - I have a Endo Appointment now in a few weeks.... just need to keep going - the hunger pains / empty feeling is so bad today I just do not understand what is going on. I'm here because my first thought was diabetes... but have been tested (35 mmol - HbA1c)... and this has been going on...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Thanks for all that detail. You are quite right, I think. It is the message that is not being relayed correctly from the gut to the brain for whatever reason. As in the car analogy - my fuel gauge reports empty along with loud warning signs all the time no matter the actual status of the...

Wits end - any similar experiences?

Thanks so much for the informed reply. I’m still not sure it is a carb craving. The impulse to keep eating is so strong I am now convinced it is a medical condition. All my life I’ve had a healthy appetite, true, but it was never a problem to control it. My weight was stable. Over recent...
