    Newly diagnosed, feeling daunted

Thanks all. I had my results of my HbA1c - in 3 months, I got it from 53 down to 44. I am ALMOST in the "normal" range. No low carb - just healthier eating.

    Metformin pains

I stopped taking the pills on Sunday morning. Had a bad stomach at lunch time. No pains after that, but also I've not had a number 2 since then. It's like I go from one extreme to the next lol.

    Metformin pains

This is so me at the moment. 4th week of Metformin (2x500mg twice a day) and the stomach pains and diarrhea is unbearable. I went from going to the loo twice a day with "healthy" stools to going once every 3 days, constipation followed by stomach pains and then for an hour or so constant...

T2 - Still feeling really confused

I think the main thing is the price; I'm exempt from prescriptions but they won't prescribe test strips or test machine for type 2. Or at least they didn't offer. 50 test strips for my tester is £13. Deffo can't justify £100 a month for an auto tester

T2 - Still feeling really confused

Thank you all - I appreciate all the advice. I am starting to take readings before and 2 hours after a meal. When I woke up this morning, my reading was 6.2mmol/L - I ate some whole-wheat and raisin Shreddies with a splash of milk and just tested myself 2 hours later and my reading was...

    Testing + playing instruments

Hey all, I'm doing a lot of readings of my blood sugars - usually 3 times a day - and one thing I am noticing, although I am alternating which fingers to prick, it is impacting playing guitar as the tips of my fingers can feel bruised. Not so much on the tips - as playing the guitar hardens the...

T2 - Still feeling really confused

Hey all, I've mentioned before that I have been diagnosed as T2 only a few weeks now, and in that time i've made massive changes to how I eat and exercise. I'm coming across several problems... Set the scene... I am 43, 21st (294lb), 6' tall. I'm relatively active - walk 11mi at a time. I'm...

    Really struggling with my levels

I'm no expert at all - but what if you don't have the sausage and bacon and have an omelette instead with some sliced chicken in it and a small amount of cheese? Are the levels lower then? My highest reading was 9.8 once - and I know what caused that (yeah, had some fried chicken and a small...

    Newly diagnosed, feeling daunted

Hey all Just an update - just did my blood readings for a week using Sugr - 21 readings in 7 days and it gives you your Hba1c reading. Mine has dropped from 52 to 40 in a week. I've lost 5 lbs in a week too. That's from changing my diet, logging foods etc Not sure how accurate that reading is...

    Newly diagnosed, feeling daunted

Thanks Mavies - the main thing is to also lose weight. I am 21st 4lb - and whilst I am relatively fit (Can walk 11miles without a rest), this will ultimately have an issue later in life if I don't address it now.

    Newly diagnosed, feeling daunted

I've had a few days to get my head around things and things are a bit better now. My wife and I have sat down and talked more and we are both prepared to make the changes and she is supporting me. I think we just had a wobble in the week which also seemed to impact other family members - must be...
