What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

10.8 this morning was 15.6 around 28 May when I started my Low Carb Low Cal diet after an Hba1c of 112 (next Hba1c 30th August). Gradually been coming down and got it into single figures Friday 9.9 but it's crept back up again. Not sure why I'm getting this liver shunt in the mornings. I don't...

    Metformin

I agree with BulkBiker, I didn't take the recommended Metformin, took one standard pill and well... let's say it was not good so I was switched to slow release and told the side effects wouldn't be as bad. But I didn't fancy another experience like I had with the standard version, however 'less...

    Pressure cookers

I'd always been one for gadgets and must have cupboards full of just about everyone you can think of, gathering dust now I might add. I have a pressure cooker which is about 10yrs old now but only used it a couple of times and used the base as a pan to make chutney. My actual cooking aids now...

Type 2 Could BG Monitor be faulty?

No I'm not testing after meals, I only started testing the last couple of weeks. I'm testing just before breakfast which is anytime between 8 and 9.30 and again just before lunch which is usually around 1.30 to 2pm. And not tested before dinner for a few days as got so fed up with nothing...

Type 2 Could BG Monitor be faulty?

I have a Code Free BG monitor, but wondered are they ever faulty? I've stuck rigidly to a low carb diet and lost a stone in weight in a month just over. But my BG hasn't changed at all in that time. My last hba1c was 12.5 (112). Every morning my fasting BG is around 14.5 or 15.1 and my before...

    Well aren't I an idiot!

Thank you Mrs HJG. I did take that first one after my breakfast. I had egg, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes. (low carb diet). It didn't help preventing the explosive experience :( Could a few more people post in here with their experiences of the slow release version when they first took it please?

    Well aren't I an idiot!

catinahat someone else told me to do that wait until after the eye hospital appointment. I really wanted to stay on the low carb diet and do it without meds, I did it before, and I think my number were as high if not slightly more back then. But changed surgeries since then and this new lot are...

    Well aren't I an idiot!

I was over the moon the last time I posted on here a couple of weeks ago. I'd had the result of my hba1c with average BG of 12.5 (112) which the DN reckoned was around 14/15. So I had put myself on low carb diet a couple of weeks before my hba1c to try and reduce it if my BG was elevated. I...

    Another interesting article

Thanks for that article which I have read. As someone who was told to take metformin recently when I knew I could do it by diet I totally agree with everything said in the article. I refused the drug and have put my T2 in to remission in less than a month just by diet. I haven't taken pain...

    Low Carb Diet Miracle!

You're welcome Nicole, I am still in shock that the low carb diet worked so quickly. I did stick to it rigidly and ate hardly any carbs but I was determined I wasn't going to let this disease beat me and I wanted to prove my doctor and the diabetic nurse totally wrong about it. I really think...

    Low Carb Diet Miracle!

Had an eye test on 26th May, as my vision was very blurry and I couldn't read the road signs or the writing on the tv plus I was falling asleep all the time and felt totally exhausted. The optician said both eyes had changed the same amount pointing to high blood glucose. So I went immediately...

    COVID restrictions gone........................

When the pandemic first started I researched masks and the covid virus. The medical masks are totally useless, yet thats all they wore in hospitals and shops. They're designed to stop liquids not viruses. Their main purpose is to stop surgeon's spittle or sweat dripping into open wounds and...

Very high BG level shot up in a year!

Thats interesting about the low carb diet affecting the side effects. I can imagine the distress and shock waking up to a met explosion had occurred. Funnily enough when the doctor said she would put me onto the prolonged release version she said start them in the morning. The pharmacist said...

Very high BG level shot up in a year!

Well I started the standard Metformin yesterday morning and was fine til early afternoon, thought oh this is good, no sickness or anything, then at 3.30 I had terrible diahorrea like I've never had before and was stuck on the toilet for 3/4 of an hour. Just when I thought it was over and got 3ft...

Very high BG level shot up in a year!

Thanks yes the nurse did say if the normal met doesn't suit then she'd try me on the slow release one. I'll start it in the morning with breakfast now you've reassured me. I know it makes me sounds stupid to be worried about weekends but when you have no local or family support network it's a worry.

Very high BG level shot up in a year!

Thank you for your replies. Antje77 I meant low carb diet. I don't believe in calorie counting. I did the low carb diet when first diagnosed 3yrs ago and went into remission, its only because I fell off the wagon during the pandemic that my numbers doubled in 12 months. Thanks also for the...
