    Foot very painful (ulcer?)

Hi guys. I cut my foot on monday I think and it's still an open wound and getting extremely painful. I've got neuropathy in my feet and high risk as of last foot exam. I called the drs as the DN had told me too but the dr just said keep it clean. It's Thursday now and the pain is getting worse...

Feel old and knackered at 33

Yeah, several months ago I came off Simvastatin to see if that caused the pain but it continued to get worse. Dr started me on atorvastatin instead after several weeks off any statin. Got both masks. Not got a chin strap and I'm a mouth breather so air shoots out my mouth. Using full face at...

My hb1ac is 50, DN pleased with it. BP in good range, was high before cpap treatment. Cholesterol in good range. Ibs goes both extremes. Cpap isn't optimised. Still being adjusted. Really struggle with it at times leaking. Got review next week anyway. I've suffered depression for years. Had my...

Could we get a new board for complications?

I'm type 2 but got complications from diabetes like neuropathy. Also i have sleep apnea, carpal tunnel, ibs and stuff. Could we get a section to discuss diabetic complications or other conditions we have to put with alongside our diabetes?

    Insulin sensitivity getting worse?

Hi Guys & Gals, A type 2 insulin question... Been on insulin a year or so now. Lantus and Novorapid + 1500mg Metformin. Last couple of months I've been on pain killers for neuropathy (30/500 cocodomol and amytriptolen). My weights increased by a stone as a result unfortunately. I think my...

    Lump on foot - help

I had something similar on my left foot on the knuckle before my big toe. Turned out to be non-malignent fibrous tissue. For whatever reason my foot decided to grow it there. Was like walking with a stone in my foot. Had it surgically removed. Two weeks later I grew two more, one on each foot...

    BS Monitor

They should last longer than that! Then again depends how long it's been sitting in the pharmacy or gp's. was it issued by DSN or gp? If so ask them and they should provide spare batteries.

    Pen or Syringe?

For all we moan about the NHS in this country we are bloody lucky to have it. How much it would cost us otherwise for care and treatment doesn't bare thinking about (in my opinion anyway)

    Pen or Syringe?

New to insulin and not used syringes. Pens I find are very easy to use and convenient. A mate of mine always uses syringes and never tried pens. Think he enjoys the funny looks he gets when injecting.

Statins - Your experiences please :)

I've been on them a few years now. No noticeable side effects apart from memory as you mention. Also as you mention I noticed it affects my memory. Apart from that the only other side affect that I noticed was the affect on my memory... Seriously though my short term memory does lapse quite...

    LOGO OF THE DISEASE

Diabetic cement? Whatever next! Personally I'm not going to bother with a tattoo. I've designed a hat I can wear to alert people to my condition. The hat is a cone shape and has a large letter 'D' on the front. Should clear things right up.

Just changed to Lantus and NovoRapid - Question

Thanks noblehead. I'll try injecting it slower. I have been counting to 10 so will try leaving it in for longer and see if it helps!

Can people really be to blame?

Not all type 2's are to blame for their condition due to weight and lifestyle. Weight and lifestyle are contributing factors but not the whole picture. If it was simply these then surely a higher percentage of obese people would have type 2. A lot of people are overweight these days and are not...

Just changed to Lantus and NovoRapid - Question

Tried in my thigh but made a right mess so sticking with the bum. I've noticed though I loose a bit of insulin when I inject after removing needle. Also it gets hard to push the plunger down for the full dose? It's getting harder the more my dose is increased. Also, I get this weird warm...

    Unable to eat

You really need medical advice. If you can't speak to a DSN (do they have emergency duty nurse?) Then go with 111 and ask for advice. Sorry can't help further and best of luck
