I don't get when people say they have fixed amount of fast acting insulin per a day because almost everything we eat is going to raise our blood sugars (even fats and proteins) and then theres correction doses. Sleep patterns, physical activity, weight, % body fat, age etc. change our insulin to...

I would say normalising blood sugars requires a considerable amount of effort to begin with, but think of it like riding a bike; once you know how to, you never forget and it becomes almost second nature. You will need to read: 1. Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution: A Complete Guide To Achieving...

Hey a little help please ;)

Ok, so far sounds good although the carbs could still be a little high. Im not sure of your current weight, hight or how active you are, also i don't know if any of your other conditions or medications could be effecting your weight. Diets tend not to work or produce short lasting benefits. A...

I don't believe there are any studies on diabetic patients who have near perfect control over their blood sugars (because theres not enough of us). I would say its dangerous if you are unskilled at maintaining normal blood sugars. Blood sugar normalisation takes a lot of work but when done...

    Complications piling up.....

Sounds like your body is essentially disintegrating, You need to educate yourself on how to get your diabetes under control, many people are able to normalise their blood sugars and reverse complications (even late stage complications) however it will take some work! 2 books: Dr. Bernsteins...

    huge conflict with dietician

welome to the world of T1D - everyone has their own opinion. Im sorry you came across this kind of health carer, the advice she is giving you sounds potentially life threatening, eating industrial amounts of carbs requires 'industrial' amounts of insulin and makes your blood sugars hard to...

But you can't be diabetic, you're so slim

i think most TYPE1s would agree that type1 and type2 diabetes should really have completely different names.

keep up the good work everyone! unfortunately the problem is.. 'normal' is highly contested term when it comes to diabetes management. At the end of the day, most people have a1c of 4-5%. If your a1c is higher than this you are damaging your body. Its quite simple. Think about it like this...

WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE NORMAL BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS

i disagree, the hb1ac would be the lap time, the quality of your driving determines the lap time.

WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE NORMAL BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS

Thank you Brennan for explaining my analogy, despite its simplicity. Having normal HbA1cs is still something that most type 1 diabetics don't seem to find important. For many of us it is achievable with some self educating and hard work, yet being lazy about it increases our chances of...

I havent posted on this forum for a while, so i thought id make a thread for celebrating normal HB1ACs for TYPE 1 Diabetics. My last A1C was 5.0% (with the help of Dr.Berstein's diabetes solution) and I'm hoping to get down to 4.5%. Please share your normal A1C results here and how you...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Re: What are your H test results? i think you must be misinformed. If your A1C is 7.1% - you are almost 100% going to develop complications, probably within only a few years.

    Really worried about levels

sounds like your basal dose is too low, or you have the wrong carb to insulin ratio, or both. theres no need to worry, high blood sugars are usually caused by simple errors, however you should not let dangerously high blood sugar levels continue for as long as a 'few weeks'

WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE NORMAL BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS

Re: WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE NORMAL BLOOD SUAGR LEVELS It is unfortunate that you experience background retinopathy at fairly low levels, but at the same time it should also be expected, most non diabetics have a A1C of between 4-5. Think about it like this, would you put petrol in a diesel car?

    24hr insulin

I use levemir long acting insulin, some recommend one dose every 24 hours but most people have to dose every 12 hours (twice a day) You will have administered the correct amount of long acting insulin when you daughter wakes up with around the same blood sugar levels she went to sleep with. The...
