    Hba1c test results. Good news.

Brilliant - that's great news. Have you done anything in particular to get a big drop?

How open are you about your T2 diabetes?

I have told everyone I know and especially anyone who cooks for me, it never really occured to me to not tell anyone. My mother thinks I take it far too seriously - she is type 2 herself and can happily chomp on chocolate, cakes and sweets. I do have acces to her NHS records and can see...

    Diabetes Eye Check

Hi @Pipp, Maybe the finger pricking is a thing for me to do as it seems a lot cheaper. I'll look into that. I know it sounds daft, but does your finger end up looking like a pin cushion? Do you vary between fingers? I don't really fancy it and this is why the CGM to me was great as I...

    Diabetes Eye Check

Just wanted to say thank you to @Pipp I took your advice and got the trials for both the Libre2 and the Dexcom. I've been testing different foods over the last few days on it and it's been mostly fine - I am not really affected by crisps at all which is good as I'll have a packet every now...

New Libre 2 Plus sensor readings

Hi, thanks very much for the reply it is so helpful. It's still a bit of an unknown minefield for me even after being diagnosed for two years. Yes, I am still only on Metformin but have dropped down to 2 tablets a day instead of 4 about a month ago. I spoke to my diabetic nurse who was...

New Libre 2 Plus sensor readings

Ok, that was fun. I had the Toby Carvery. I had three large spoons of mashed potato, 2 roast potatoes in animal fat, carrots, turkey, gravy and mint sauce. My readings spiked at 11.2 mmol 55 minutes after eating. It then came back down, one hour and 30 after the meal it was 8.3 and then...

New Libre 2 Plus sensor readings

I had my breakfast this morning at 8am and the readings were a lot higher, haha. My hope of a miracle was short lived, haha. I had two slices of toast (wholemeal bread containg 20g of carbs), margarine and 4 eggs. Within minutes the readings started going up and by 8.30am it peaked at 9.1...

New Libre 2 Plus sensor readings

Haha, I'm at a friends house and to test it we looked at the highest amount of carbs in a bag of crisps she had. They are Doritos Zingy Salt & Vinegar 70g bag which says on the packet it is 60g per 100g (that had confused me a bit, haha). By my calculations it is actually 42g of carbs...

New Libre 2 Plus sensor readings

I ate the grab bag of crisps 2 hours ago which had 60g of carbs in it. I was 6.1 at 70 minues and then it dropped. Just checked now and it is 6.2 mmol.

New Libre 2 Plus sensor readings

Thanks for the reply. The thing is though, it spiked at 7.1 so I did have some sugar (the mince was in gravy) and then came back down to 4.6 mmol within 1 hour and 45 minutes. I'm now eating the big bag of crisps and will see what happens.

New Libre 2 Plus sensor readings

Hi All, Thanks to the great advice on this forum I have got a two week trial from Libre. I have installed it this afternoon and have got readings which is good. It was 6.4 mmol at 5pm and then I ate a meal of minced beef and salad (lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers and salad cream (low fat...

    Diabetes Eye Check

Thanks for your recommendations. I have now got the Libre 2 plus on a 15 day trial. I installed it at 15:15 and it takes an hour to give a reading. It's currently showing as 6.2 mmol and I ate at 2pm so 2 hours 20 minutes ago. Looking online this is an ok reading. I'll be eating at...

    Diabetes Eye Check

Hi All, I had my 8 week follow up to my two rounds of laser treatment today. Sadly, it looks like I will have to have a third lasering as my left eye has more blood vessels in a different area. I just don't understand what more I can do? My HbA1c is down to 38 which I thought would really...

    HbA1c result

Thanks for your post. I thought I'd done pretty well to get down to 38, haha. Re the vitamin D, I couldn't really find anywhere on the internet specifically about vitamin D aftecting the liver like it did for me, but one of the possibilities that AI said it could be was taking supplements...

    HbA1c result

Hi, I have cut out a lot of carbs and it's helped me get down to HbA1c of 38 which is a non-diabetic level. My diabetic nurse told me to actually eat more often but a lot less portions. I thought that sounded quite sensible as then I wouldn't get as many spikes or anything.

    HbA1c result

Just to update this thread. I had my follow up blood test yesterday and then results have just appeared in my NHS app. My Serum alanine aminotransferase level is now down to 17 U/L which is well within the normal level of between 0 - 45. As you can imagine I am incredibly relieved and have...

How long have you been diagnosed type2

I was diagnosed with a reading of 110 in January 2023. I had a blood test a couple of weeks ago and I am now 38. I don't eat anywhere near as much as I used to and am very careful not to have many carbs evey day and exercise as much as I can. Unfortunately I had already damaged my eyesight and...

    Frozen Shoulder Surgery

I had real problems with my arms about 5 years. I was told that was a frozen shoulder and given injections and all sorts with no joy. A couple of years ago my legs started hurting enough to stop me sleeping. They ran blood tests including Vitamin D and realised I was very very low for Vit...

    Cautionary Tale re Prescription Charges

Haha, "I'm surprised they stop bothering you after 60 instead of checking every 5 years to see if you've got younger", that made me laugh. I've just checked the entitlement webpage for me and it's still got my old address even though every other part of the NHS has my correct address. I moved...
