Type 2 Trying to stabilise my sugar levels

The 3s started this week. I woke up at 6ish, ate before going to bed (so around 8-9pm), checked my levels at around 6:30 because of how I was feeling. Ate 10-15 mins after that. I've already noticed a difference with my mental health, and on the whole my diabetes is beginning to get easier to...

Type 2 Trying to stabilise my sugar levels

With the 3.5 levels I felt really dizzy and tired. I did eat, and they came back up and the feeling disappeared. My usual is between 5 and 7.5ish. I know it wasn't due to the Metformin but I thought probably because of the change of eating routine. No longer having a lunch or any food at that...

Type 2 Trying to stabilise my sugar levels

This will probably sound like a stupid question, and please no judgement. How long should it take for sugar levels to stabilise after changing your sleeping and eating routines? I had been working nights for a year, this of course meant having lunch (sandwich, crisps, apple and salad) between...

Started Metformin a couple of weeks ago

I bought myself a 100% dark chocolate bar. It was horrible. Getting slowly used to other dark chocolate though

Started Metformin a couple of weeks ago

No I know the Metformin doesn't cause hypos. I was sitting upright when I did the finger prick. I don't have a monitor that I wear. I have dark chocolate in the fridge, but I'm kinda hoping for an excuse to buy myself a nice tasting chocolate bar. I'm not a fan of dark chocolate. I've got my...

Started Metformin a couple of weeks ago

I finally got to start Metformin. Was a bit disappointed by the lack of the not so nice side effects that the diabetes nurse, the pharmacist and my parents told me that I would get! Also bought a glucose monitor from Amazon. It has a hypo alert as well as helpful images at the bottom of an apple...

    Badly Home made pizza

Oh wow! Doesn't sound like the healthiest of menus. I do like the idea of the toppings minus the base though.

    Badly Home made pizza

The only thing that I couldn't find on any of the lists was flour. I'm not sure what fathead dough is, but it is something that I will try. The lists are for type 2s, on the red list are things like cereal, milk chocolate, grapes etc. This is a learning curve for me, but I don't want to give up...

    Badly Home made pizza

Ooh that looks interesting! I'll give it a go I had read the yoghurt and flour base on a couple of Facebook budget pages/groups, but didn't think I'd be using it. Not sure I like the taste of the yoghurt part, but half of that sort of pizza did fill me up, which pretty much never happens

    Badly Home made pizza

Hi all, this is a photo of an attempt at a home made pizza. The base was just Greek yoghurt and self raising flour. The base sauce was chopped tomatoes. Toppings were ham, peppers, an onion, mushrooms and cheese. Most ingredients are on the green and amber lists that my diabetes nurse gave me. I...

Ah ok. Luckily my dad has a spare meter. I popped in to my opticians, my next appointment is due in May so I'll see what they say about that. I've got a few things to ask the diabetes nurse about medication

Yes. I'm glad my parents never tried to film me growing up. Mind you, all those £250 from You've been framed would have been helpful

I often joke about my dyspraxia. I was once asked to touch my nose with a finger and nearly poked my eye instead

I don't like dark chocolate. Too many bad memories of a medicine that came in the form of dark chocolate when I was a child. Might have to give it a go though, but after Lent!

Ah ok, I'm sure I'm due an appointment anyway so I'll let my optician know.. Where would be the best place to order a meter from? I'm sure it can't be that difficult to prick my finger. I manage to cut them often enough

Tbh I wasn't listening after she said diabetes. Not until she said type 2. I only had about 2 hours sleep before the appointment and had to walk there (over a mile), and have memory issues anyway due to dyspraxia. Should be fun. Dyspraxia means that I injure myself. I've been told that injuring...
