    This is not controllable.

Two weeks now. Daily carb intake 5-10g/day. Lantus dose of 210units/day Blood sugars still topping 325mg/dl . Someday, they will understand mitochondrial diabetes is not "normal" Type 2 diabetes.

    Maximum Lantus dose.

I am limited to 10g of fat a day. That only leaves protein and that does turn into sugar eventually. Indeed, for the last 3 days, I haven't taken in ANY of the things normally associated with carbs. There ARE some carbs in cheese and eggs, but that is all.

    Maximum Lantus dose.

The pen has a maximum "plunge" of 80 units. I do 3 injections daily of (now 68u). I could give it a shot. I do this occasionally when one pen runs out and I have to get the remaining dose from a new pen. I haven't noticed a difference on those days.

    Maximum Lantus dose.

Currently in 3 injections a day of 66u. Tomorrow will be 68u each. I am on no fast acting insulins. Correct. My C-peptide this week came back still above normal, so still indicating I am producing a good bit of endogenous insulin, (We tested it again as we also though that perhaps the...

    Maximum Lantus dose.

I cannot find any info regarding a maximum dose for Lantus online. Two week ago a switch got flipped in my body and my sugars and ketones went out of control. Appointment to see the doc is not for another 2 weeks. and some blood sugars neared 400mg/dl. Ketones came under control once I...

    Ineffective insulin virals?

This comes in pens and since I am flying through them at this dose, I've gone through many pens. I'm not worries about highs right now. I am just working on my fasting number.

    Ineffective insulin virals?

Something like this is happening to me right now. For weeks my dose of Lantus was 55u in the morning, 55u at night. Two weeks ago, some switch flipped, and I am now taking 64 units THREE times a day with an extra 30 units when the sugars go above 300 and it just seems like it is doing nothing.

    How SGLT2 inhibitors promote ketones

Interesting. According to this study, SGLT2i cause increases in glucagon and ketone levels ONLY in diabetic patients. The rise in ketones was not seen in normal controls. Empagliflozin caused a significant increase in mean plasma glucagon, free fatty acid (FFA) and ketone concentrations in...

    Diabetes Burnout.

Well, reading through the thread, it seems like I am in good company here. If you are triggered by downbeat stories, please stop reading now. It seems like I am coming to the end of a long fight. I’m OK with that. 22 years ago, I became very ill with something that infected my heart and nervous...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Sugar was 7.0 which would have been a banner day for me, but ketones were 2.4 which is too high :(

How many ketones are too many ketones.

Well, of course this stuff always happens on the weekends. I had gone 4 days with ketones under 1. This mornings was 2.4mmol/L. I think I will hold my Farxiga today, and live with the higher sugars, until I hear from the doc on Monday.

    How SGLT2 inhibitors promote ketones

Are you able to purchase blood testing supplies yourself as I have? This morning my urine testing shows 8mmol/L. My blood testing is 0.7mmol/L. I was told by my doc urine concentrations can be higher as urine pools over time in the bladder.

    How SGLT2 inhibitors promote ketones

I have on multiple events seen 16mmol/L on the urine test strips (the highest range there), only to have <1.5 mmol/L in the blood. My doc has asked me to monitor my blood ketone levels as that is what he is concerned with. Such a different viewpoint, when all healthcare comes from your...

    How SGLT2 inhibitors promote ketones

If possible, can you obtain a blood ketone meter. In my own experience, the levels of ketones in my blood are significantly lower than those in my urine, sometime by an order of magnitude.

    How SGLT2 inhibitors promote ketones

Yes, because the preponderance of euDKA events occur in Type 1 diabetics. In T2D, exogenous insulin is protective, yet not absolutely, of DKA.
