    Insulin sensitivity

This has become a problem for me as well. Taking 2 units at 9.0 brings me to 5-6 mmol/L but when I go beyond 10.0, my sugars will shoot up to 14.0 and beyond regardless of how much insulin I give myself. I just let it go to 9.3 and injected 2-3 units of Fiasp (using my pump). Fast forward 1,5...

Type 1 Needing more insulin over time

Hi, When I first got diagnosed, my ratios were lower than what they've now become. For example, I used to have 1 unit per 12g carbs and would need around 12 units as my basal. That worked fine for over a year and changed seemingly overnight. Since a few months, I need around 18-19 units basal...

What levels do you become hypo aware?

I also have my alarm set to 4.2 so I can hopefully prevent the low. I feel bad around 3.6 and will start shaking around 3.0. My body will sweat out of every spot at 3.4 below. Setting the alarm to 4.2 instead of the default 3.9 (if I recall correctly?) has made my lows much easier to...

    Type 1 Plane travel

Thank you @Marikev. Always good to hear other people's experiences as well! Will come in very handy :) I'll check out the regulations regarding the overhead compartment and how much I'll need to bring with me in the first place once I've decided which airline I'll be flying with.

    Type 1 Plane travel

I expect to be away for 3 weeks. The country is known to be warm but I'll be visiting when it's colder. I'll be in a house so my insulin can be put back in a fridge upon arrival until I leave. Is it okay to have insulin out of the fridge for around 20 hours (1 layover) if I can get it back in...

    Type 1 Plane travel

@urbanracer @Marikev @EllieM Thank you so much for the responses ❤️ I do not. Do you have any recommendations? It's for my pump but I'll be carrying needles with me as well just in case. Good to know I can just use an empty water bottle. That does indeed sound like a good idea :) I will I do...

    Type 1 Plane travel

Hi, I'll be travelling far in a few months and I was wondering if there's something I should be aware of. I already have a declaration from my specialist which also states that I may not go through x-ray machines and should be pat down by a person instead. I was also advised to bring 3x of...

Type 1 Struggling to control levels

It's very nice knowing someone else also experiences the same. You helped 2 people in 1 thread :)

    Type 1 High after dinner

Thank you. I'll try splitting this evening and extending my bolus tomorrow evening to see how that goes. I did not consider making that a standard yet.

    Type 1 High after dinner

Hi, I've been having a really good time managing my sugars up until a month ago. I assume this is what they meant by "You'll have to change your ratios and basal every so often." I've been trying really hard but it's very difficult. I've come to ask why my sugars are spiking well after dinner...

    Libre scans per day?

I was diagnosed almost 1,5 years ago and have been scanning the same amount of times then as I do now. Using Libre 2, I scan 23-25 times per day unless I have a very good (less scans) or bad day (more scans). I find it comfortable and it puts me at ease :)

Type 1 High BG at set times

After using Medtrum for 3 days, I'm already very pleased and will most likely stick to them for the next 4 years (contract). I've been able to sleep great and the fear of going high overnight is slowly fading away :playful: Thank you all once again.

Type 1 High BG at set times

I had my appointment yesterday and I've returned with news We first looked at how I was doing and graphs were pulled up. What went well? What went less well? I brought up my overnight complications and basal changes which then led to the pump. Although increasing my Tresiba significantly...

Type 1 High BG at set times

I've so far only had to change it from 16 to 12 a few months after my diagnosis. I've tried experimenting by increasing it to 14 but that's all I've done when it comes to changing my basal (excluding the past 2 days). I'll be discussing it soon and looking at what's best for me. I'll make sure...

Type 1 High BG at set times

Thank you for the advice and I appreciate the care. I might stick to 16 and wait it out as I have an appointment on the 3rd anyways. I'll make sure to bring up my basal and ask for more information regarding it. I'd like to get better at judging whether my basal needs to be adjusted and if so by...

Type 1 High BG at set times

Of course. I meant it more in the sense of that the smaller jumps didn't appear to improve it although I must admit that after trying 16 units last night, I've only had to inject 2 times instead of 5 times. I use Tresiba and will be I'll be trying 18 units today.

Type 1 High BG at set times

Of course! My ratio is 1:12 which works very well for me. I take these correction doses apart from anything else. That would bring my bolus up to something like 30 units. Basal not so much, but perhaps that's because I haven't asked enough. We had the initial basal be 14 units (if I recall...

Type 1 High BG at set times

Hi, For several weeks, my BG rises at set times and for nearly 3 weeks, I've been staying awake overnight to inject for it and then sleep in the morning. For context, I take 12 units of basal at 9 PM and I inject to avoid these highs like so: 10:30 PM: 4 units 1:30 AM: 3 units 3:30 AM: 4 units...

    Constantly needing more insulin

I inject right before my meal and sometimes only a few (~5) minutes before. I don't expect a flat line but rather a very controlled spike. I'd rather spike and watch my insulin tackle it than have a flat line form at 17.5. I'll try to move it by 5 minutes until I'm happy with what I see. :) I...

    Constantly needing more insulin

Thank you for the clarity. It makes a lot more sense now. Thank you. Genuinely made me tear up a little for some reason. I'm not sure if I need that kind of support (yet?) but my specialist made sure that I'm aware of it being available. I like being reminded of it. I now also expect it to...
