    First Libre 2 fault

Yes that is important. Abbott (Australia) would not replace my self-funded faulty sensors because they were not prescribed/endorsed by a health professional. Likely it makes a difference if your GP or diabetic nurse is onboard with you using them. I won't use Freestyle again after my...

    Mastering Diabetes Programme

I'm not familiar with the book, but some people do seem to benefit from eating a good amount of fibre, polyphenols etc. If that's the way you think you'd enjoy eating and you're inspired by the book you could give it a trial and see how your Type 2 responds. Just had a glance and it seems well...

    Fat loss to remission

My sister in law had weight loss surgery to address her T2 diabetes around ten years ago. It went into remission but eventually she developed it again - she worked in a bakery so it was challenging for her to stay low carb! The pre-surgery shake diet she had to do improved her diabetes even...

    An astonishing event... (melatonin)

Mine is that same dose. I use it intermittently. I'm wearing a continuous glucose meter for the next 10 days so I'd love to try a little experiment. I'll let you know how it goes. x

    An astonishing event... (melatonin)

That is interesting indeed! What dose of melatonin are you taking? I have some and if it's in the range of what you're using I might have a play with it. :)

Help me understand? After a BG spike...

Haha yes I saw that and realised I've noticed it with myself, particularly with 'quick' carbs.....in my case a glass of coconut water. I had seen it mentioned as something to be watched out for as a sign of insulin resistance, however in the context of low carb I think things can be...

Help me understand? After a BG spike...

I've noticed if I get a bit of a BG spike, I'll sometimes drop lower than my typical fasting BG level before stabilising. Is this the result of Insulin 'over' correcting? I've seen a couple of internet MDs suggest it reflects insulin resistance, but I'm keen to know what others have been told...

    Frothy urine / foamy urine

Great to hear. Yes and this follows what Jason Fung (a nephrologist) says he sees in practice.

    Frothy urine / foamy urine

Well it might depend on the person, but in my experience no it's not.

    Frothy urine / foamy urine

When I add some back it goes away yes.

    Frothy urine / foamy urine

I do and I've found it's when my blood ketones measure close to or higher than my glucose. At the moment I'm testing around 4 - 5 glucose over the course of the day and ketones between 1 and 2. Nutritional ketosis. But if I reduce carbs enough, under 10 - 15 g total per day, my ketones and...

Do others feel warm when BG is rising?

I'm wearing a CGM and taking advantage of testing a few items, sometimes experiencing a 'more significant' post meal peak than is the norm for me since I started eating low carb/ketogenic. I mean a rise of 1 - 3 points. A few times I think I've noticed a warm feeling which feels more...

Can my BG go down after eating carbs

For what it's worth, I was rewarded with a low ketone level later on. OK. I'm using Freestyle Libre 2, but looking for alternatives after terrible customer service. I can get Dexacom sensors for around the same price so will switch to those. My first Freestyle sensor failed after a few hours...

Hba1c Now in the Normal Range

Congratulations!! You really are an inspiration. I'm sure the nurse was impressed with that number of 39! Congrats on the weight loss too.

    Newly diagnosed pre-diabetic

Ian, thank you so much for this comment. I was adjusting to new glasses (progressive lenses for the first time) when my neurologist suggest I try a ketogenic diet and ... well, yes... I jumped in and dropped carbohydrates too 'aggressively'. I'd wondered why I was struggling with my vision so...

That's so inspiring! Congratulations on that excellent progress! Thank you for sharing that. x

Can my BG go down after eating carbs

Agreed, you can get a lot of info from the changes. Yesterday a small glass of coconut water containing 5 - 6 grams of carbs gave me a pretty significant glucose spike and then dumped me lower than I started. So I know I need to avoid that! What type of sensor are you using?

Can my BG go down after eating carbs

I had a surprising response to a trial of a piece of buttered toast this morning too. I didn't experience a dip like you though. Looks like you were coming down off a rise so maybe insulin was over responding to whatever caused that rise? Anyway, my piece of toast had 20 g total carbs and I had...

    Stressed and worried

What kind of thing does it stop with? Is fat sufficient or do you find you need protein?
