    Maybe I didn't express myself properly, by checking 2 hours after you may not even see any spike and think all is flatline when actually its not. But there again what do I know, I'm new here.... but been Diabetic for over 12 years that we know of for certain.

    I think the trick is to activate the sensor with your phone instead of doing it with the reader, that way you get all the alarms on your phone too as well as minute by minute readings.

    The pickled beetroot is probably the vinegar enhancing the effect, I take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a 1/2 glass of water before meals and it cuts down the spike dramatically, tastes nice too.

    I was like you taking readings before and 2 hours after each meal, thought I was fine only to get told of by my doctor when the blood test results came in. I now have a Freestyle Libre 2 CGM(Constant Glucose Measurement or management)sensor and within less than half an hour(usually a lot less)...

    I am 66 and a type 2 diabetic taking 2x 5mg/1000mg tablets of Synjardy per day together with Lantus slow acting insulin and NovoRapid insulin if needed. About 6 months ago I started Fasting from 22:00h till 15:00h daily. I have gone from 112kg to 89.5kg in weight, that's a 22.5kg weight loss...

    Giving up coffee???

    I was recently asked by the nurse at my GP's office, how many cups of coffee I drank a day, to which I replied none, and continued with, but if we talk about buckets full about 1 and a half :D just my sense of humour, sorry.

    Blood glucose monitor

    I have learnt more about how my diet affects my blood glucose level in a month using the freestyle libre2 system than many years pricking my finger, writing down to show my doctor a month or two later. You can eat something and usually between 10 and 20 minutes later you know what its affect is...
