    HBA1C of 43

I wonder at what level they might think of me stopping meds?

    HBA1C of 43

I just got my HBA1C test results back. 43 which I believe is fractionally above normal. Cholesterol of 3.7 and BP 132/72. Can HBA1C results be too low for diabetics or am I at risk of hypoglycemia? I was feeling quite pleased with myself but now I am thinking on it as everywhere I read seems...

    HBA1C Rising

I got the results of my recent HBA1C today and was very disappointed to hear it had risen from 6.5 last year to 7.5 this year. 56 year old male, quite tall weighing 14.5 stones. Quite active with my job. The only thing different from last year is that I have cut right back on alcohol and hardly...

I think I am going to take 3 a day for a week and see how it goes.

    Metformin Increase

I thought that and I did ask, but was met with resistance. I also asked if there are any other medications I can try? That wasn't really answered in my opinion.

Thanks. I just loaded that carb manager app. I will start using it once the strips arrive. I have gone the low carb route before and it worked but I never used an app for it. I am about a stone overweight and I know low carbing will get rid of that and help get my sugars back under control...

Definitely some good bread alternatives there! I am going to ask the wife if she will bake the keto bagels.

Carbs are a minefield. I was eating porridge for ages as I thought it was good for me. Checked my blood sugars once after eating it and boom! Through the roof! Hence, no more porridge. I struggle with all cereals and even Belvita biscuits which are slow release do a number on me! I am going to...

Thanks for that. I used the SD codefree for quite a while but felt the readings were high with it. I believe other members who used it did too. I think I am going to budget for testing again each month.

Are my Hba1c results in 60's likely to cause any neuropathy? I do get tingling, numbness in hands and feet.

    Metformin Increase

Interesting...When I tested at home before I found fats (non pastry) had negligible effect on my blood sugars unless I ate an oversized meal of them.

The reason I stopped home testing was because of the cost. Dr didn't want to know about prescribing me strips. I would appreciate that as it is something I would do again if the cost was right and it produced results.

    Metformin Increase

I have done low carb before and it worked. Hba1c in 40's and I lost a lot of weight. However, I have a manual job with 12 hour shifts. I am exhausted most nights. I need those carbs. Bit of a double edge sword really.

Also, I don't home test anymore. I used to though.

    Metformin Increase

Hi, I won't lie and my diet was awful through lockdown. No excuses. The wheels fell off! I have been trying to do better lately though. Yesterday I had strawberries, blueberries and apple for breakfast. A slice of wholemeal toast at lunch and a mixed grill with salad, bulgar and one small...

    Metformin Increase

Hi everyone, I have been diabetic for ten years plus. Generally well controlled without medication for the first 7 years with all Hba1c results 48 or below. Wheels kind of came off during lock down and I lost control with Hba1c going into mid 50's. Metformin introduced twice daily at 500mg...

    Do I need Medication?

I ate sensibly over the weekend and this morning I was at 6.5 on waking up. Clearly my poor diet wasn't helping things.
