    Glicacide

Thanks Tony. I've had a quick gander at the website and it looks excellent! Enough there to keep me busy for a long time.

If you feel ratty then I bet you bite those jelly babies heads off!

    Glicacide

It might be beneficial if you discussed with someone about how you can reduce carbs in your diet. The nurse doesn't appear very helpful imo. Maybe have a look at the section on Food and Nutrition where there are several forums. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/#food-and-nutrition.28

    Glicacide

Maybe test your bgs before and after every meal to get an idea how the gliclazide is working?

    Glicacide

That's four times more than my daily dose so it might drop your bgs - it might depend on how insulin resistant you are.

    Glicacide

I've been on 40mg gliclazide for just under 29. years and have had only one hypo (which was horrible but not life threatening). The hypo was caused by too much alcohol. It might depend on how much mg of Gliclazide you're taking.

To medicate or not to medicate, that is the question

The complacency thing is deadly. It creeps up on you and I've had the strange experience of watching my bgs climb transfixed like a deer caught in the headlights of a car - transfixed as in taking no action to reduce the bgs!

To medicate or not to medicate, that is the question

You're doing really well!. I don't know how long since you've been dx'd but the sooner you get those figures down to best levels the easier it will be. I was dx'd in 1997 and really didn't take your approach until a few years ago (with a few good periods in between) but now I'm getting results...

To medicate or not to medicate, that is the question

How are the practices being rewarded for achieving 40%+ compliance to bp targets? Isn't there a risk that patients will be pressured because the practices want to receive those rewards?

To medicate or not to medicate, that is the question

Maybe the weight comes off because if a low carb diet is followed to reduce bgs then the weight may come off as a result of that?

    Diabetes UK tackling stigma campaign

I never saw the Diabetes anti stigma campaign. Maybe one of the main causes of stigma is that people get confused with the alleged link between being overweight and diabetes. It would be interesting to see what Diabetes UK's stance is on this. One way to counteract this stigma is to explain...

With the rise of T2 Diabetes why aren't food companies required to put the GI index on Carb rich foods like bread?

Maybe food companies are not required to put the GI on nutritional labels as we could end up being overwhelmed by too much information? After all, why stop at GI - why not also show the Glycemic Load which can be helpful? And then, and then, where would it all end? It's not that difficult to...

    Kimchi and Blood Glucose

It's an acquired taste like so much low carb food! Although over the years I've got used to it.

    Kimchi and Blood Glucose

I've started taking Kimchi (a form of fermented vegetables with lots of prebiotics) since last Friday. I take around 100g - 130g a day and my BGs seem to be going down although it's far too early to draw conclusions as to how strong the correlation is between Kimchi and the effect it may have on...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

10st 12 1/2 lbs up 1lb No surprise as my food consumption was a bit up with a naughty brunch at my local church hall on Wednesday!

    ‘Stop Eating After 7pm’ Challenge

I've been having my last meal mostly 7pm - 8pm and sometimes a bit after 8pm for the last five days or so. It seems to have a stabilising effect on my Bgs but too early to draw conclusions plus I've not been on the exercises bike for at least a few days because of the hot weather. Fortunately...

    Night glucose levels drop fast

Can Free Libre 2 plus be inserted on the belly? I use Dexcom One Plus and I put it on my belly close to my belly button. This cuts down the chances of it getting pressed on.

    Night glucose levels drop fast

Type 2s sometimes take insulin as part of the therapy.

    Carb Manager app

That reminds me of the old joke: Diabetic niece to diabetic uncle "Uncle, what's the best thing to eat?" Uncle: "That's simple - if it tastes good spit it out!"
