I am in the same boat. I had acute pancreatitis in March due to gallstones. I had my gallbladder removed in June. I am eating well but the weight is falling off me. I look skeletal.
I have spoken to the local NHS diabetic nurses but they have run out of ideas. I take 2 25000 creons with meals...
Great ideas. Thank you.
The diabetic nurse did it for me both times and I didn't see any overlay at all, just the patch.
So, tonight was very scary. I dropped from 14.4 to 5.7 in 8 minutes. My prick testing reflected this. I am now back up. However, Dexcom is saying I am at 13.7 whereas the...
So, today I go to the diabetic nurse and am given a Dexcom G7 sensor, which she put on for me. I prick-tested my fingers and the sensor was out by 0.4. I was well pleased. She was happy with me split-dosing my Lantus and the issues with Novorapid ceased when I did that.
An hour later back at...
Thank you. Tonight, I took a split dose of Lantus, instead of all at once and I have gone the other way - 15. I would rather go high though, so I can adjust as well as it dropping naturally in time, than go fatally low, as it almost did last night.
At the moment, it's just about avoiding the potentially lethal hypos. The diabetic nurses will take me through care-counting at my appointment, on Tuesday.
I was told by the paramedics yesterday that going hyper (although not great) is better for you until you see the diabetic team than risking...
I am absolutely terrified to be taking it tonight. I have very little fat left on my body, and in the hospital I had a fair bit of belly fat and wondered if that is affecting things at the injection site? I spoke with the NHS diabetic team and they made an appointment to see me on Tuesday...
It is. Thank you. I think it was professional pride because in a way, I am stating I am not happy with the advice I have been given via the surgery's diabetic services, which are woeful to be honest.
I went to my GP yesterday evening who administered a ketone test and that came back as below 0.6 which was good. I asked him while I was there if he would put in a referral for me to see a specialist on diabetes and he was reticent to do that. I can get an appointment for the 16th June but it...
None at all. It's all been about where blood sugar levels are, so for exxample if I want to eat and my blood sugar is at 7 then no more than 1 unit of fast-acting insulin. If I am at 11 then no moe than 2 units.
This is what I want. Newly diagnosed but struggling with blood sugar, every day. I have to have my gallbladder removed in August and until then I can't eat anything with fat in it (excruciating pain even just using a few squirts of the air fryer 1 kcal spray) but hoping afterwards, I start to...
I haven't. I will ask the next time I see my consultant at the hospital.
I was notified however that there was no sign of tumours/masses on my pancreas and the blood tests that could signal that, have all come back as normal.

Yes, acute pancreatitis caused by gallstones. I am having another CT scan tomorrow, with a view to removing my gallbladder in August. The acute pancreatitis is what led to the diagnosis of Type 3c Diabetes.
I felt that way yesterday when the diabetic nurse at my doctor's surgery, dismissed...
What I have noticed is that having an org**m always affects my levels for days after. The problem is, the process is automatic and there is nothing I can do about it. Nocturnal stuff. Yes, messes with my blood sugars no end and I'm not sure why.
Thank you.
I did not know about this and what you have written has added an extra layer of worry to what is currently happening to me. I have been told that from my CT scans, there is nothing to suggest tumours in my pancreas and my bloods are all good. The thought then, that this could lead to PC, is...
Hi there,
I have the fruity breath associated with ketones however I don't have any of the other symptoms. I looked into getting a ketone meter however they only come with 10 strips and extra strips are costly and financially, I am unable to pay for these. What are my options, please? My...
