    Fasting blood tests on insulin?

Hi, This isn't a definitive answer, but in the past I have always been asked by the consultant/gp/nurse if I feel able to have a fasting test, the answer has always been a resounding no, but since going low carb in april I feel I could cope with that now as everything is so much more...

    a step too far?

Hi all, I have got my 6mth review tomorrow with the dsn- Feeling a mixture of apprehension and excitement  the reason for the excitement is because of how brill my blood glucose has been since I went low carb in April. I have just printed off a summary from my Onetouch UltraSmart...

What's the correct technique to inject?

Hi stephen, You might like to try splitting your dose. Many people benefit from this as levemir tends to have a 12hour 'life' also- this way, you may find injecting 30 units less uncomfortable. :) Regards lindsey

changing levemir from pm to am

Hi there, I use levemir as my basal insulin (novorapid for bolus) and have excellent control of my bg's with it. It is very predictable and I always wake up with a level of around 4. However I do split my dose, I take 6 units at 1am and 5 units at 1pm, there is no particular reason for this...

    Statins

Hi Bluejay, I am also a relative newcomer to the low carb way, I started at the beginning of April and have never had better control of bg levels. I purposely started then as I knew that I was due to have my routine bloods done in July and therefore hoped that my cholesterol etc would have...

    flippin annoyed

It's not often I go out, but recently I have had three separate episodes where I have been served a 'fat coke' rather than the diet one specifically ordered. It has always been from the "mixer taps" but as they go to dispense I really stress the fact I have ordered a diet mixer. so it's...

Hi Amy Good Luck with your course! I am a t1 diabetic and really wanted to breastfeed my second son (now 20mths old), I had an absolutely fantastic diabetes specialist midwife in hospital who was really supportive. I stayed in for over a week (didn't want to leave). Initially, I had to...

Bizzarre reaction to low carb diet

Hi fergus, Hopefully one day you will manage to convert them! Surely, when they see how well you manage your bs' levels they realise the madness!? Glad that the humulin s seems to be working out ok for you, I always struggle to inject 40mins before eating, I think the closest I ever get is...

Bizzarre reaction to low carb diet

Hi there! Another freaky eater here. When I was first diagnosed I cut carbs drastically, but still had trouble keeping within good bg's levels, then i was started on insulin and told I needed to eat carb based meals. Well 7yrs later, taking more and more insulin, eating more and more pasta...
