    Timing of OmniPod changes

Thanks for confirming this. The idea of rigid 72 hrs didn't seem to fit the supposed "flexibility" of pump therapy!

    Timing of OmniPod changes

That is exactly what I want to do :) and have been doing with the Veo. Used to do pre-breakfast changes, but wanted a break from that. Having said that, my bg is more predictable in the morning than evening, I think morning chages best as long as I'm in control of the timing. Overall I...

If you were designing a pump, what features would it have?

I think the dosing increment can be changed in the "settings" menu.

If you were designing a pump, what features would it have?

Ideally the integrated meter should be able to test blood ketones as well as glucose. Tubed pumps & their clips designed so insulin comes from bottom of reservoir, not from the top where the bubbles are. Cellnovo idea is good ( wear as tubed or dis/reconnectable patch pump as required)...

    Timing of OmniPod changes

My dear old "purple friend" - Medtronic Veo - has served me well, but today I switched to the Omnipod. Overall impressions are good, but I'm concerned about the timing of Pod replacements. Maybe I misunderstood, hope so! As I understand it, each pod lasts 72 hrs, but there's a 5 hour grace...

    OmniPods on a plane

Thanks, things were a bit stressful for a while, but both home now and seem to be doing OK, touch wood. Hope that continues while I get going with the omnipod. Can't complain given all the stress my health caused them when I was a kid, payback time now!

    OmniPods on a plane

Thanks for the link Noblehead, I hadn't spotted that. Will print it & put with my passport. Sorry didn't reply sooner - elderly parents both been ill, on wards at opposite ends of the hospital.

    OmniPods on a plane

My Medtronic Veo is out of warranty and I've decided to switch to OmniPod, hopefully within the next month. Just wondering about flying with the 'pod. Witht the Veo I was told to switch off the wireless connection to my linked meter and remote during flights. Would I have to switch off the...

    Advice needed re steroids

Had a good night, considering. With a small increase to my basal I woke twice to test, no corrections needed, and 6.8 before breakfast. Maybe yesterdays high bg was as much the stress of the unexpected, potentially sight-threatening diagnosis and discomfort of treatment as the steroids. We'll...

    Advice needed re steroids

Hi Beanpole Wow 180%? Don't think I've needed more than 130% before, but useful to know it might take that much and may take a couple of days to wear off after stopping. The pump correction worked, also put on a slight basal increase and came down to 3.8. Isn't this fun... not! Sue...

    Advice needed re steroids

Hello again iHs, nice to hear from you again too. Good idea about using a pen. Usually pump corrections work well for me - down to 5.9 now :-) but will keep a pen/syringe in mind & handy in case needed. The pump nurse has txt me to do corrections and maybe temp basal too. I'm cautious...

    Advice needed re steroids

Edited to say obviously I need more insulin, what I need to know is it best just to correct frequently, increase basal (as well, or instead?) and still avoid hypos overnight as the steroids wear off??? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Advice needed re steroids

Hi all Long story short, i've started steroid eye drops today, hourly for the first day, then 4 times daily for two weeks. After the third hourly dose my bg is aleady 19.7 eek! Has anyone else been on this and whats the best way to control bg? I've left a message on my pump nurse's mobile...

Thinking about asking for a pump

Being out of area shouldn't cause problems or delay - the hospital has to get agreement from your PCT even if you live right next door, they'll just be writing to a different address. Lots of people attend regional specialists well away from home for complex conditions, so the finance people at...

New pump next week!!!! eeeeeek!!!! How did you adapt to it?

Re: New pump next week!!!! eeeeeek!!!! How did you adapt to Hi Kellyraye I got my pump last July. It took a while to adjust and at first my attention seemed to be on my pump 24/7. Like you, after many years of diabetes I was used to doing things a certain way. Had to adjust my thinking...

Would you prefer to be on insulin injections or on a pump?

Re: Would you prefer to be on insulin injections or on a pum Definitely prefer a pump. Injections couldn't control dawn phenomenon or adjust the doses finely enough or for me, but no problem with these on the pump. It's more work, you may need re-learn things and if you have good control on...

    Back after a long break

Hi All Sorry I haven't logged on since November - had a bleed in my eye and needed loads of laser treatment. Each treatment left me sick, dizzy and dazzled for a week. Then straight back to work and wanting to rest my eyes otherwise, so not using the computer at home. Had the (probable) all...

Bowel 'op' BG levels gone wild!

Hi Anna Pain that would probably put your BG up. The operation and the fasting before it may be affecting the absorption rate when you do eat. Also if your medication includes steroids, they normally raise your BG. Haven't taken them myself, but I think when oral steroids are taken in the...
