Prediabetes How do I intepret the results?

If you go above 7.8 (Allow 10% error for the meter or illness) you are diabetic! There is no such condition as pre-diabetic.

    TCM for diabetes.

Or, more simply, cut out sugars, fast carbs, add exercise and this will bring your Hba1c down to more normal numbers! There is no evidence that diabetes is reversible but there is for it being controlled!

    Off Metformin

Have you found that stopping `met` has increased your appetite? I certainly have!

    Dietician Stumped!!

Julie Jazz, if your morning (fasting?) levels are over 7 then the problem is not what you are eating! (unless you are eating loads of fats the day before!!) but your meds. are not able to control your levels! Go back to the docs and ask for more help, be it different meds. or insulin. Regards...

    Where to go from here.....

You seem to be trying to solve your problem with one hand tied behind your back! Are you not testing your meals to see what they are doing to your BS? Rather than having to wait for the doc. to tell you your Hba1c - you will know exactly how you are doing.

    Even I don't understand it

Yep! The fat would have slowed the uptake of carbs and testing at 1 hour , 1.5 hours and 2 hours would have shown it!

    Just what is the point?

To lose 4 stone while taking `Glic` is really good as it can make you hungry ( as it beats your pancreas into producing insulin). You`ve done something positive already for yourself so carry on and you will soon have the confidence that you are the best judge of your control. Arm yourself with...

    Trying to understand highs

I would certainly try exercising more, as well as eating less if you are not using all of the calories you`re taking in. If these measures don`t help with the high numbers then you will need a review of your meds..

why are sugars still high 2hrs later

You started at 6.3! That does not allow much room for calories of any sort if you don`t want to go above high sevens. I would try again and see what reading you get at 1 hour. and 3 hours. You had a lot of bacon ( fat )which slows emptying of the stomach.

Any (non Insulin using) Type 2s not home testing?

A non diabetic does not go above 7.8 under `normal` circumstances - are you happy to believe an organisation( working to a budget) that going above this figure won`t harm you?

HbA1c test and need to keep weight

This will sound like a `stuck record`! But, if you test before and after meals you will know exactly how you are doing, as well as how individual foods affect your glucose levels.

    Tired

Go to see the Doc, it could be any number of things - some you will want to be treated for! http://www.diabetesselfmanagement.com/Blog/David-Spero/what-causes-diabetes-fatigue/ Is a link to some information.

    High blood sugar

If your levels are above 10 all the time, then you need to go back to the docs for more meds. Do you take measurements before as well as after meals? Only by doing both can you get an idea of how the food you eat affects your blood.

    Advise need

The liver will give out glucose if it thinks you will need it, ie. for exercise, both before and during, so it is a good idea to have a small amount of food before any regular activity. This will stop the liver from dumping any more until it is needed. However, this is only a maybe, as we are...

Ok now im totally confused blood suagar madness

Sorry! I was thinking about another forum at the same time! However, you could still ask at the docs` for a `C-Peptide `test.. This will tell you how much insulin you have running around in the bloodstream. - a precursor for glucose intolerance.

    Metformin!!

If you test after a sandwich, you will be able to find out just how it affects your BC levels! You will probably be surprised! Have your bread with healthy fat and protein to slow the rise. I can eat 2 thick slices of Greggs `bloomer` and not go above 8mmol..

Ok now im totally confused blood suagar madness

If you have been that consistent over 3 tubs of strips steve, plus your admission about the sweet stuff you used to eat, then I would say your meter is ok! However, although you have given your pancreas a much lighter load to cope with now, you`re liver is still being helped by the dose of...
