Lots of testing = scabby fingers! :)

I guess a very light go with a nail file might be worth a go :D I'll keep trying with the moisturisers as well. Thanks

Lots of testing = scabby fingers! :)

Sorry for the slightly gross topic but I wondered if anyone has any tips for my fingertips! I have increased the amount of testing I am doing having just gone on the pump, however, I am noticing my fingertips getting worse with scabs and dry skin, which in turn is making testing slightly more...

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Thank you for the advice! :) I spoke to my nurse and she suggested waiting until today when I see her to have a look at things, in case some levemir was still lurking about. Things seemed to iron out a bit yesterday during the evening. Still a little on the low side pre bed though so will see if...

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Morning @Mrsass :D I did blus with my latte and it seemed to keep things steady! Congratulations by the way on the pregnancy! Howfar along are you if you don't mind me asking? How exciting! Another good night! My 3am test gave me a reading of 13 so I gave the bolus via the wizard. Woke up on...

That it a strange feeling. When I gave my last injection I could almost hear 'Land of hope and glory' playing in the distance ha ha! It was strange not doing my usual injections this morning as well! Happy days! :D:D:D:D

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Oooh how exciting! Only a few days left to wait! When I was sat in the waiting room yesterday afternoon, all of a sudden the same feeling came over me that did when I was about to walk down the aisle at my wedding! The excited but nervous feeling. I haven't had the pump for even 24 hours yet but...

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Thanks so much! Yes, its in the stomach, though in a part that I would never have thought of putting it! I just can't believe that I can't feel it there at all. Last night was good too! That was one of the parts I was most nervous about, thinking it may get tangled up or pulled out. I bought a...

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

So here I am, with my new 'best friend'! I have to say I am amazed that I cannot feel it at all and I feel like it has always been here. I know that getting basal/bolus rates correct is going to take some work, but I am truly thrilled and feeling optimistic even after a couple of hypos. I think...

    Hypos in hot weather?

I always have the same problem in hot weather and yesterday was quite a nightmare from morning until evening! It's easier to prepare if on holiday and you are expecting hot weather! Bit difficult in the UK

    Getting a pump!

Do let us know how you get on! Everyone has been recommending this book to me which I have now started reading called 'Pumping Insulin'. I've found it very informative so far and people on here have told me it a must read, so maybe worth a look for you in preparation! :)

    Freestyle Insulinx 'HI'

After some advice, my meter just says HI which hasn't happened to me for a long time. Obviously at this point I'm pretty screwed anyway, but how do you work out how much insulin to take from that reading? I just took 8 units of novo rapid and thought I'll see how I go from there as I don't want...

Due to start pump therapy.... five days to go!

Hi @BeccyB ! I am in Hertfordshire so do not know of any clinics up there, but I wish you good luck! Have you looked up the NICE criteria for pump eligibility? Might be useful to know, if you haven't already had a look of course. :) x
