    T1

Re: T1 I am 19 and have had diabetes since age 11. I've always resented it and it had lead to a lot of difficulties with depression and anxiety and periods of not caring about it. I still find it hard to cope and get control because where I live there is little support for type 1, only type 2...

What do you do for Work?

I work 4 evenings a week behind a bar and 3 days a week I do waitressing at a holiday park. My blood sugars go low a lot but I do have regular breaks and eat during them which is good. In the past I've had some really ignorant managers and supervisors though, where I've had to eat dextrose...

Can people explain how they feel during hi's and lo's?

High - very lethargic, thirsty, nauseous, dry mouth and throat, moody, a bit of a headache. Low - shaky, weak, blurred vision, tired, quiet, faint, panicky, hungry. Both are horrible and I wouldn't wish either on anyone. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Binge eating?

    SSRIs(antidepressants) and blood sugars

I have been on anti-depressants for nearly 4 years and have never noticed a change in my blood sugars with them! I do find however that my mood changes when my blood sugar is slightly high are more obvious, which is good, because sometimes I don't notice at all. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Do you tell people you have diabetes?

I tend to only tell people if it's entirely necessary, for example when it comes to my education or work, I'll always tell my tutor or my manager, just so they'll know why I need a regular break etc. I don't tend to tell other people unless they are close friends, just to avoid the awkward...

    What's the lowest you've been?

I've been at lows of 0.3 and 0.4 before, and I've not been able to remember who I am or what I'm doing. I remember once waking up with my mum at my side trying to feed me dextrose tablets and me not being able to chew them, so she got some lemon curd and jam and spooned it into my mouth. It was...
