Somogyi Effect shown on Freestyle Libre

Well here I am poised to commit to buying one right now online. Thought I'd come on here and see any reviews so this has been helpful. I'm committing to buying one but I have to say I'm still not really sure if it'll do the job I'm hoping as people seem to either love it or hate it?!!

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

Yup! It is, I've really just learned to live with it but this last week has been simply awful at night, I've barely been getting any sleep. I've also just last week been diagnosed with an under active thyroid and started low dose thyroxine.........hmmmm wonder if there's a link there.

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

I'd read that too RuthW and decided to leave well alone and just put up with it. However, I've just been referred to my local orthopaedic hospital so we'll see what they say. Had a letter cancelling my 17sep appt so now it's on 21st sep instead. I just started levothyroxine yesterday for an...

Diabetes and Mental Acuity/ Emotional Lability

We are indeed very lucky to have the NHS. Even that though can make you feel guilty at times. At the moment i feel like I'm taking up a big percentage of funds on my very own [emoji85]. How great that you got to do the Coursera course and got so much out of it and to meet others on the same...

Reading through this thread has been a mix of good education and inspiration to do as best i can and feelings of abject horror...

Diabetes and Mental Acuity/ Emotional Lability

Thank you. I've done 4 decades of Type 1 and i don't know who posted it earlier in the thread but i fall right in his ..... 2.Eat lots of starchy carbs, keep your HBA1C at 7 or below = you'll escape the first decade or 2 relatively unscathed, however the macrovascular/microvascular damage is...

Pump users: how often do you test/change your basal rates??

I'm basal testing quite a bit at the moment as I'm really trying hard to bring my HbA1c down (67 in May down from 77 in March - think I'll be in range on next one). I base test a couple of days after making some base rate changes to check those changes are working and sometimes if I've had a...

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

MetFartin [emoji1] really made me laugh and so true! Well i saw my DSN yesterday who has asked me to drop my morning Met 500mg and just take the evening one. I do worry ,reading some of the success stories, that is there another reason why it doesn't seem to have affected my levels that much...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

Does seem to show there's a real link with T1 and frozen shoulders just on here alone. @bridkid_74 what a shame you keep having to go through surgeries as they've failed [emoji53]. I too have dupuytrens and my fingers are still straight-ish. Also had trigger finger in quite a few of my fingers...

Looking to work out ratios & background requirements

Hi Craig, I'm really no expert here and i know others will be a lot more knowledgable. I'm on a pump, have been for 4years. You really will find basal testing and setting carb ratio's so much easier on a pump. I'm assuming you are on an injected basal/bolus regimen at present? Basal...

Hi guys, I'm sorry i haven't really been around to continue the conversation. Had a holiday then lots of commitments meaning i haven't had a proper chance to sit, read through and digest. So I'm almost a couple of months into taking Metformin. How is it going........? Meh! I had to be taken...

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

Thank you @YorkshireAli, that's really good to read and nice to know others experiences in Met. Still making adjustments and the initial queasiness seems to be wearing off, still early days but it's definitely lowering my readings. I really need to basal test [emoji85].
